Sharron

Sharron Report 31 Jan 2014 11:18

Fred is in bed today. He does not feel well.

He had to have his sausage sandwich sent to him on Wednesday but he did go out to the café on the bus yesterday where he demolished turkey and ham pie with vegetables.

He has had a chesty type cough for a long time but it is very much like his getting worked up over something cough and he is booked to have his eye-lid done so I have left it as it is intermittent and he hasn't coughed much up.

Didn't want his Reddy-Brek but has had a banana and is on to his second mug of tea.

Doctor has been. Chest infection, antibiotics.

We have to go and pick them up this afternoon.

Hasn't had any medicine yet but he is having a biscuit and looking livelier.

OneFootInTheGrave Report 31 Jan 2014 14:35

I presume you have told Fred he can't have any whisky with antibiotics :-D

Hope Fred's chest infection clears up quite quickly.

kandj Report 31 Jan 2014 14:38

Hope the antibiotics will make Fred feel a whole lot better very soon. Better stock up on fancy biscuits when you go to collect his medication Sharron, we don't want Fred wasting away, that would never do.

maggiewinchester Report 31 Jan 2014 15:32

Actually, there are a few antibiotics you can't have alcohol with - some react horrendously with alcohol, some become less effective, likewise there are some you shouldn't take with milk, but the majority are safe.
The idea of saying you shouldn't take alcohol with antibiotics came about during the war. Most antibiotics then, were given to servicemen suffering from a STD. To avoid the men reinfecting themselves (and infecting others) whilst taking the antibiotics they were told not to take alcohol, so they would avoid getting drunk and sleeping around!!

Sharron

Sharron Report 31 Jan 2014 16:22

I don't think he feels well enough to get drunk and sleep around at the moment but you can never be too careful!

He is having mashed potato and poached egg as I write. One egg, little bit of spud on a little plate, aaw.

Not nice when you have a chest infection they can make you feel really poorly so I am sure he is enjoying being 'nursed' Sharron. Hope the antibiotics soon kick in. the last lot I had were fine with alcohol. :-D
