Look out for store 'loyalty' cards as well - not the credit cards. You don't have to buy anything

My Waitrose = one free hot drink a day
My John Lewis = vouchers for a hot drink and cake once a month

If either or both of these stores are in your vicinity, there is nothing to stop your OH taking one out in his own name ;-)

Can't cope with too much at once.

I have to get used to having a free loaf yet.

But isn't Iran a long way to go for a loaf of bread? :-D

Sharron

Sharron Report 27 Apr 2014 09:38

No, I took the usual three small fishes and fed the whole of Iran. There were five thousand of them. I do it all the time.

I walked all the way as well, straight over the Med, no trouble!

I can do all that effortlessly. It's justashameIcan'ttype!

I think it may be because we are to used to it being " when you spend £50" or some such.
So if you got just that then I will use them too, don't want to spend what I wouldn't normally just to get something free. :-D

I am a bit cheeky, if I have a coupon saying £5 off a forty pound shop or something like that, I buy clothing as well as groceries that I want. Then I return the clothing saying it doesn't fit or whatever, and I have the groceries in a smaller amount with the money off!

Play these shops at their own game, I say!

My sis in law is old school. Only uses cash. Never cheques, credit or debit cards.
She shops almost exclusively in M&S, for food, clothing, furniture ect, and spends a fortune in there every month

I may have finally convinced her to get an M&S credit card .
I explained that at the till, she uses the card for her purchases, but immediately tells the cashier that she wishes to pay her CC bill..... for the amount just spent.

This way, she never receives a CC bill with a balance, but will be sent M&S vouchers, for the points that she amassed.

I use freebie vouchers all the time, provided they are in the newspapers that I buy anyway, and the goods are available in shops locally. Not worth buying a paper specially or using petrol to get to the next town for something free. Otherwise I take advantage of everything I can. Bits of my garden and several pots are full of freebie plants from Homebase and very nice they look too.

You want to watch 'Extreme Couponing' on TLC.

In the US they use free coupons to their full potential.

We do not get coupons to this extent here in the UK, I wonder why. Could it be that far too many of us would use them and it would not be financially viable for the companies to issue them

In the US so few people do use them that I am amazed as to why anyone over there actually pays for any of their groceries.

If you get a chance to watch the show do it is truly fascinating.

People save up to 100% on their shopping and in some instances can even get money back making their savings 100% + !!!! :-)

Good for you Sharron I would love to do it apart from the fact that the airfare would be to expensive now ! The store offer these freebies and discounts because they can afford them and use them as a "lost leader" whilst you in in there getting your free bread you will also buy butter, jam and all the rest.
Be a coupon Queen and why not.

Liz a gal after my own heart !

Lol Uzzi!

Some years ago there would be dozens of coupons in magazines, papers and coming through the door, my Mum brought me up to use as many as possible and at one time you could use them off your total bill in Tesco and Sainsbury even if you didn't buy the item so I often got lots of things I wanted for hardly any money.

Then that perk stopped and gradually there are fewer and fewer coupons to cut out. I do find it helpful that I get Tesco coupons for the items I use regularly so that helps out on the bill as well.
