Well, hopefully this thread has worked some magic, as last evening my son told me he and his girlfriend are taking their relationship a step further! No not children yet but they are planning on getting engaged when they can find a ring that she likes and is affordable.

I said Oh lovely, does that mean babies follow, and son said I hope so but not sure about babies, might only be one but I have always wanted two children.

Just hope things work out as they plan and there are babies in the plural. Will keep revising my list of names lol

Her little boy will be 6 at the weekend so she has had a long enough break from pregnancy lol

Lizx ( living in hope and very excited)

Mr Magoo, you obviously didn't read my earlier post lol

I quite like Juno. At least it's classical and not an awful made up name which seems to be becoming a trend.

Or, even worse, a classic name misspelt. Samual instead of Samuel, Esta for Esther.

Or named after brands - Chanel, Prada.

Or places - Brooklyn.

or any name that appears in soaps or films.

It's hard enough growing up without being lumbered with a name that no one can spell or leads to teasing.

And don't get me started on American imports ...................

Maryanna

Maryanna Report 29 Apr 2014 11:59

Yes it was Island, and I know four of them.

Wend, the more I see Juno written down the more I like it and as I said before, at least it isn't a made up name or initials or a place name or some peculiar spelling or a perfume or clothing brand.

Island :-). I can imagine some conversation many many years ago.

What is the name of your Baby ? Oh, Peeetarrr , unusual , why didn't you go for something more traditional like Ugg or Ogg ? I don't like these new names.

No I meant by made up the sort of name a lad at school had a few years back it was Dennydalyon. His ( older ) teacher used to call him Lenny the Lion and all the kids used to call him Dandelion

I was served yesterday by a La Datasha.....

I read somewhere a while back that there is a certain 'rule' to choosing Christian or first names, it's to do with the amount of syllables in it and the amount in the surname.

My surname is long but my parents loved me so much they gave me a long Christian name too altho my middle name is only three letters long. So much for a young child to learn to write lol

Both my children had three letter Christian names and longer middle names. Luckily my son likes his slightly unusual name and it never got shortened more or lengthened. The only teasing or questions he got were to do with 5th November, which wasn't his birthdate!
