Subway removes ham from nearly 200 stores after 'demand' from Muslims
The sandwich chain said 'following a strong demand from our Muslim customers' 185 stores in the UK and Ireland are now halal-only.

And what is wrong with that?

If a place produces, prepares and presents in a way that you disagree with then why not go elsewhere?

I have just searched for my nearest Subways and of the 35 given only two are Halal.

Too many people in this country are jingoistic, racist, and downright narrow minded.

I would love to know who "they" are!

I do believe that in the thirties certain groups were forced to eat elsewhere because their beliefs did not fit in with the German regime as it was.

The Muslims is who "they" are and some of those that I know disagree with what subway are doing anyway.

People are people, humans, no matter what their colour, creed, nationality, religious beliefs, and I cannot believe that people would take such exception to this. Bigotry springs to mind.

From what I've read, most of the meat we eat is Halal anyway.

Admittedly, it's the Daily Fail, but other newspapers commented on it.

Personally, I don't eat fast food, and prefer to get my meat from a farm shop.

I see there being no problem with those stores offering Halal food as the animals are stunned before being killed. There are plenty enough stores still selling the normal menu.

It makes sense for the business to supply where demand is.

I am not at all raciest in any way but I agree with Dizzi wholeheartedly. Errolsheep, you say if we don't like it go elsewhere but why not say that to the people who complained in the first place. If you don't like what a certain place serves go elsewhere. :-P
