Tenerife Sun Report 7 May 2014 16:31

My bed broke! Will have to get a new one I don't know how much it will cost but as everything is imported it will be more than enough.

The gas boiler decided to give up the ghost. New one fitted this afternoon 270 euros plus fitting.

The vacuum cleaner, nearly five months old died. Luckily after a rest and a bit of a cool down it returned to life. I forgot to get the two year guarantee stamped so I'm pleased its alive and well.

The computer man rang, my computer is ready to collect after having XP updated to Windows 7. Fifty euros please.

I'm hoping things don't come in more than three's

I have visitors arriving tonight but they don't land until 11.30. Half an hour to clear customs and an hour on the road home. Not much chance of an early night for me.

They driving themselves Wendy? That is a late flight.

I assume that is the bungalow boiler not the apartment? Although that was a bit dodgy in the wind wasn't it? I assume you have moved bedrooms now then?

You have obviously been overusing the vacuum cleaner!!! Or that young lady has!!!

Mersey, sadly my trampolining days are over, mores the pity. I was very good at it once, or so I was told

Ann, Janet's picking them up but I'm going with her as she doesn't know them. They normally stay the night in a hotel for £60 when they come on an early flight so it's about the same and the flight was very cheap from Norwegian. The new boiler is for the apartment. Bright and shiny new and automatic. Unfortunately it has the old cover on as the new one wouldn't fit in the cupboard needed to stop the wind blowing the pilot out.

Shelley....roll on July we get two months pension in July and again in December. No doubt something else will have broken by then

AnninGlos Report 7 May 2014 17:15

I should have a nap now then. Still Janet will keep you awake on the drive down!!!

Is that from Stanstead?

Tenerife Sun

Tenerife Sun Report 7 May 2014 17:25

Ann...no Gatwick I found them the flights ages ago. They paid £224.60 return for two people and that includes reserved seats and two cases. Flight also has WiFi which is good.
You either have to leave at 6.00 am or 19.30 to arrive here at 11.30 pm but the return leave TFS at 14.20 which isn't bad.

wisechild Report 7 May 2014 17:43

Know how you feel.
Last month, fridge freezer gave up the ghost. Monday it was the water heater. On top of that, a bill of €450 from the communitario for repair of tiles on the staircase, on top of the €350 annual community charge. Next they want over €1000 per flat for outside painting. They must think the block is owned by Russian Mafia. There are only 9 flats. No pool, no lift, just a scrubby bit of lawn round the building. What are they maintaining for goodness sake?

Tenerife Sun

Tenerife Sun Report 7 May 2014 18:04

:-) Wisechild it may well be the Russian Mafia soon they are already infiltrating the Canary Islands. Hope you're not on the top floor with no lift.

Shelly you need to move to Tenerife to get your double pension. It doesn't happen in England
Shall I send you some details on houses for sale
I wish I was ten years under the pension age

:-D :-D :-D

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 7 May 2014 20:02

Why do you get double pension? :-S

Tenerife Sun

Tenerife Sun Report 7 May 2014 20:19

It's my Spanish pension from M. Workers also get 14 salaries a year, 2 in July and December. I don't know why?

Actually, I just looked at that site and there's quite a few references to overweight people. Don't go thinking I meant that as a reference to you ;-)

Tenerife Sun

Tenerife Sun Report 7 May 2014 22:14

:-D :-D :-D actually there are some very nice beds on there. I wonder if they deliver all this way !!

Sadly I've been the only person in the bed for the last two years.

It has suffered somewhat being pulled out and pushed back for cleaning. I am now lucky enough to have a cleaner once a week and all I can say is she's a lot more thorough than I was :-D

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 7 May 2014 22:21

Purple **^*Sparkly*^** Diamond Report 8 May 2014 06:40

Oh this thread brought back memories, I posted my first thread on these boards saying The bed is broken! and asking about memory foam mattresses. That was around this time in 2005, where does the time go?

The bed we got is going strong and the memory foam mattress was a good buy, it's very comfy.

Hope you can have some luck Wendy, so there are no more big outlays.

O.h. got a new vac. cleaner last week, it's a Samsung, half price in Co-op. It's very sophisticated, got remote controls on the handle and is powerful. For the first time in years he has vacuumed the carpets, and I am going to play dumb with the fancy controls so he keeps doing the cleaning lol You have reminded me that I must get the guarantee stamped.

Liz, the time does seem to whizz by and the older you get the faster it goes, or so it seems. I think my new bed will probably out live me as it will be leading a very quiet life. Your new vacuum cleaner sounds good even better that you have the OHusing it :-)

Ann, the bed is probably repairable and one of my visitors said he would have a look at it today but to but to be honest I think it's time for a new one anyway. The same problem will only reoccur. The base has blocked in sides and so you can't clean under it without moving it. The mattress is attached to the base a sort of all in one thing. Just going to get a base on legs and a decent mattress now.
