Please how do you knit Jam ? I think it could be a sticky business. :-D :-D

Island

Island Report 9 Jun 2014 13:41

Actually Iris, I've only ever made one lot of jam - I was given a large bag of fruit which would have gone off otherwise and I don't knit much, I prefer crochet.
I'm sorry your fingers hurt, I know the feeling but not ready to stop yet :-D

Island Report 9 Jun 2014 13:42

In the 60s/70s I and quite a few others started an evening WI in Essex. I ended up as treasurer for several years until we moved away. It was great we were WI rebels, never sang Jerusalem, most of us in our 20s/30s, did drama, crafts, had interesting talks. I used to knit on my knitting machine and sell the children's clothes at the WI meetings. I have always knitted but don't have time with card making and scrap booking these days. do make jam but never when at WI.

I tried a couple out since but it was so boring, no younger blood at all.

Mersey, where have you been?

You can't go being out when I've put a thread up :-0 :-0

Where's Wend and Prickolls? I 'spect they'll be wanting a 'where's Wend and Prickolls' fred :-D :-D

Sun's shining now so I'm orff out. I'll do a nudge up later LOL

I didn't know you were an Essex girl Ann :-0 ;-) :-D

Now your group would appeal to me. There must be some lively ladies 'of a certain age' around? I hate to think so many become staid.
I'm on a mission to find an arty/crafty group with a bit of zing and imagination left.

I tried a WI, they were not very friendly, you had to fit or you were ignored and they wanted you to go every week, I couldn't as I work shifts 24/7, so I gave up going.

but I do knit [ right handed], cross-stitch and sew [left handed]. :-S
