Mind you, 2 hours ago it was zero :-|

We usually use speedtest.net and couldn't get on to that! Still not sure it it was our end or a BT server problem.

Using Speedtest.net, the results were

2.19 Mbps download, 0.58 Mbps upload - it must be a good day for me! Download speed in the past has been much less than dial up :-( - Sometimes I struggle to keep up with conversations on GR chat threads.

No cable in our area, 10 miles away from a major city. Talk Talk is my provider promising up to 3Mbps, the same as the others.

Virgin Media (cable)

Using speedtest it was 62.92 and 2.88.

I would much rather have the Virgin package again, instead of Sky....at least you didn't loose your picture on the TV when there was a bit of rain :-D

BT have reportes problems today.

Virgin OK if you have the right lines into your house!!!

But very few BB providers can guarantee the speeds to each and every house that they advertise. As there are far too many variables

The volume of users in your area
The distance you are from the exchange!
And the general location of your home, ie tall buildings etc.

My PC is Wifi to the main pc but it was
13.8Mb download and 2.7Mb upload. Virgin Cable
main pc is 53.8Mb download he didn't say what the upload is. Also Virgin of course. Shows what a difference WiFi makes.

Graham

Graham Report 28 Jun 2014 15:03

There's a much greater volume of users than normal in my area this week. That's probably what's causing my slow broadband connection.

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 28 Jun 2014 15:22

Would that affect it? Can you hear it from where you live?
