Try Premier Inn Rotherham, they have a Premiersaver rate of £29 a night for a double room on the 10th Aug but it is £58 for the next night...still a bargain though, and they are usually very disability friendly. :-)

the problem is Joyce, everywhere will be more expensive because you are slap bang in the middle of school holidays. Premier Inn are usually cheaper, unless you can find somewhere that has a special offer on. Lastminute.com is usually good. Good luck with finding something.

Premier Inn can be very good but check their disabled facilities carefully. We had a family get-together recently and all stayed at a Premier Inn. OH's sister and her husband booked a disabled room but found they had a normal bath with shower over. There were lots of hand grips around the bath and toilet but unless you could step up and down into a normal bath it was useless.

To be fair to Premier Inn they offered an immediate refund when it was pointed out to them that many disabled people need some sort of level or walk-in shower, not a few hand grips.

Message from one of my FB friends:

Whenever we visit the UK and return to Yorkshire, our place of birth and home 'till 14 years ago when we moved to Spain, we always stay at the Premier Inn junction either 39 or 40 M1. We have never paid more than 29 pounds a night. No breakfast included, and it is expensive to buy, however right next door is a large garden centre that do huge breakfasts for about 4 pounds. It is in a super position for travelling around Yorkshire too being right on the M1 and very near M62.

Is it too late to find a large cottage for the week that will sleep 8/10? then the cost will be reduced as meals could be prepared at home. Eating out is always the most expensive part of holidays.

Ok Joyce, talk to you soon

I don't suppose Joyce's family can get time off work at such late notice to spend a week in a cottage and I think Jan would find it too hectic with all the tribe there lol.

I have just been looking for us and it's expensive. We loved the cottage we stayed at last year but it was so far from anywhere for eating out in the evening which we like to do, I hate to have to drive for a meal as it means I can't relax and have a drink, and it's a waste of time expecting o.h. to do the driving in the evenings even tho it's usually still light.

I am sure we will get sorted Joyce, one way or t'other!

KittytheLearnerCook

KittytheLearnerCook Report 8 Jul 2014 10:10

All I can say is if I were lucky enough to still have my Mum I would do all the arranging for her to take the stress off as far as possible and knowing the dates of her birthday and anniversary would have planned ahead to have time off work.

I think you need to delegate the booking of places Joyce, you don't need the worry, neither does Jan as he was so poorly not long ago :-(

Can't his mother make other arrangements for shopping and work to give you a longer holiday.............you both need one!

I hope it is all sorted soon for you both, take care. <3
