Flintshire, maybe Holywell or Howarden - have you any Ellis's in your tree? :-D

The Welsh are a nightmare to trace - all got the same name, and all born in the same place :-0 :-D ;-)

Your surname isn't Ellis, is it, Ann? :-D ;-) My G Grandfather moved up to Consett in County Durham, but looks like the rest of them stayed behind :-D

Think the spelling is right Fly :-D

No Gin.....but Ellis is a very common name in England/Wales made worse if all first names are similar through decades.

What correct info on him do you have so far?

Ann - I'm just discovering that I have the wrong family for my G Grandfather, Joseph Ellis. He was born in Hawarden ( or Holywell) about 1853, and lived in Ewloe before moving up to Consett. I now think his father was Samuel Ellis, and mother, Mary.
I had got him confused with someone born in Holyhead, Anglesey :-S ;-)
After 1873, I'm sure I've got everything right :-D

Gin,

Holywell and Hawarden are two seperate registration districts, near to each other.

Ewloe is 1 min from me.....sure that would come under Hawarden RD.
