Yes, Ann - Hawarden crops up the most, and he lived in Ewloe before moving up to Consett in the 1870's He was a coal miner there, and - wait for it...........a Methodist lay preacher! :-0

I'll never live that down :-D :-D

Ann - he could be one of about three in the 1871 census, though as he married in Consett in 1873, I think one of them could be a bit young.

In the 1881 census, his birthplace was Anglesey, and that's what put me wrong.
In the 1891, his birthplace was Flintshire, which ties in better with what my Dad always told me. :-)
