Having enjoyed last week so much and learned a lot of things from it, I thought I would watch tonight's programme.

Now I know why I don't usually watch it.

That's it I'm afraid - The format of this series is not to my liking.

Well, after last week, I know a lot about Irish history. After this week, I know a lot about one man, and the history of the banjo. Talk about dragging a subject out!! They could have done his life in half the programme. The man had a wife and two other children - one of whom was her gg or g grandfather - what happened to them?

Another boring WDYTYA got fed up and went to bed,dont like this seriesat all.

Sorry I haven't been able to post here, as I have been very behind with watching the programmes and didn't want to spoil "the plots"!
They were all stacked up on the recording box. I had caught up... but wouldn't you know it, while recording last night's episode, we had to phone Sky and reprogramme the box!

I do dislike the one person only format

Why did they fudge over who Benjamin’s parents were & why he was born in the workhouse? or his father's occupation, which would have given insight into them being in the Workhouse. There was a loose end of Benjamin's wife being in Birmingham, with the son who was Sheridan's direct line ancestor, but nothing about what was going on there, or how she was earning a living. What did the son do & what happened to the two sisters after the father died.

That’s the sort of interesting info i want to know about & what about her direct line ancestor his son.

Why not just make a short statement .

I enjoyed the bit with her & her parents on stage but did not need to see it twice & we didn’t need a banjo lesson. I think i should have spent the time counting the number of mentions Banjo had - perhaps they were on commission with a banjo store.

Far too much fawning over her really they could have used some of the time to answer what happened.

I know I fell asleep during the programme (1st time ever in all these years) – so apologies if it was said then

I did like her family very genuine

For those who have a subscription, there is a tree on Ancestry with Benjamin.
His father was a saddler before Benjamin's birth and a collar and harness maker afterwards so maybe his Mum was just in the Workhouse for the birth (the only free medical care available)

why didn't they just look on this site

Well that's more like our WDYTYA and true to form. I did enjoy learning about Mary Berry's family :-D

Mary was very interested in her ancestors' lives, wanting to know more and writing the info. down. So sad at times but you got the feeling she was proud of GGrandmother Mary Berry

I wanted to know if Baker Houghton left much money when he died.?

What did Mary's grandmother (or was it great-grandmother?) die of aged 36.?

Did Christopher Berry get his comeuppence? Or did he have a really good excuse for not supporting his family?

did Houghtons Bakers supply bread to the same workhouse that the Berry family went to?

Did "mother Berry" ever get out of the workhouse? What became of the rest of her eight children?

All very interesting.

Mary seemed enthralled. I wonder if she has got the genes bug now!
