How nice that you have such good flooring etc My family home had concrete floors (it was built in 1949) and those doors with three rectangular panels. My Dad 'updated' the doors by covering with hardboard, as were those in both the Victorian houses I have renovated.

Years back when my Mum was having to live downstairs while waiting for sheltered housing, I brough several dresses down for her to chose from and hung them from the top of the lounge door. Suddenly there was this eerie squeak and the hardboard started to peel off from the top in sort of slow motion. It was hilarious but Mum freaked out. I had to sellotape the board back till my brother brought some panel pins round to fix it. I still smile when I remember.
