O.h.'s son lives in N.Y. and pics they put on fb at the weekend, day after baby's 1st birthday, showed some snow, with little A. In a sled/buggywith a heated pad to sit on, she didn't look that well wrapped up but then I always feel kids aren't always as well protected from bad weather.

Son works up telegraph poles connecting up phone and internet wiring so can't work when weather is bad.

Hope the bad weather isn't too extreme next week, we are going away to the Norfolk coast for o.h.'s birthday week off. Only 25 miles ftom home tho

at the moment ........................ about 10:45 pm Monday evening in New York ............... it seems as though that city will not get as much snow as feared .............. but Boston, Philadelphia, Maine etc are getting hit

The winds are almost hurricane strength

Heavy snowfalls also forecast for the Maritimes in Canada ..... with Moncton in New Brunswick being badly hit.

It will be Wednesday before this storm clears the Eastern Seaboard ................ so any weather that reaches the UK will not be until the weekend at the earliest/

Just saw on the news, NY expecting 4" of snow.

I wouldn't want to be there.

But...... friends in Minnesota will be puzzled........ 4" is nothing in Minnesota!

I hope everyone keeps warm & safe.

The national weather forecast just now is suggesting snow from tomorrow in Scotland. So far the south looks to be clear of it.

Strange how there are dire warnings in the UK when 5cm are expected, but places like the N American eastern seaboard can quickly get back to normal after much much more!

DET

we get the same dire warnings about 5-10 cm here in this little corner where I live .....................

to the great amusement of Canadians elsewhere

BUT ................. like Britain ............. we're not used to lots of snow, and are not prepared.

In Nova Scotia, for example ................. Halifax and Dartmouth not only have snow ploughs but little Bobcats with ploughs on the front to clear sidewalks and cut-throughs.

Those will both be out as soon as the snow starts falling, and just up and down and round about continuously. Everyone knows not to park their cars by the side of the streets as soon as a snow warning is given ............ that's on both major and very minor side roads.

We've been in Halifax for several blizzards ................... major roads were never closed, buses kept running, and side roads were cleared within a short time of the snow stopping.

Good news for family then, little granddaughter spends most of her time with her grandparents now Mummy is back to work in the family business, insurance.

Getting my thermals ready for our week away, the wind always whips round the sea walls.

Finally got the payment sorted out, the overpayment thought to have been made didn't actually go through paypal so not the boob I thought I had made. Got it right this time when owner of the cottage sent a differently laid out invoice and I paid it with o. H. checking. Not that he had the first idea how to do it lol
