September 15th is the day on which the Battle of Britain is traditionally remembered.

Weather permitting, about 40 Spitfires and Hurricanes should take of from Goodwood between 12:00 and 12:36.

There will be ten flights which will fly over different routes in the south of the country. Details of the routes can be seen at http://www.battleofbritainday.co.uk/#!routes/c1px

The site https://twitter.com/BoultbeeAcademy should be giving tweets during the day which will give up-to-date details.

Thanks for the reminder. Pity it's going to be cloudy :-0

Right - we've looked at the routes and we've looked at the map. We've decided to walk to the cabbage field which could be under a flight path.
If nothing happens, at least we'll have had a bit of exercise!

Shame it looks as if they won't quite get to here. Closest is probably Bristol.

I should have mentioned that it is the 75th Anniversary of thr Battle, though I am sure everyone knows that.

Thanks for the reminder Kense :-) although it is rather cloudy here today :-( as I live right under the flight path for Biggin Hill ;-) I will be hoping that I can see the group that will be heading there :-)

My Great Aunt and her husband, Ada and Alfred Austen, were killed when their house took a direct hit from a Luftwaffe bomb in Dymchurch, Kent, on August 24th 1940.

Remembering them and all who lost their lives in The Battle Of Britain.

The sun came out about 30 mins ago. But it's gone behind thickening clouds again :-
Oh well, we'll leave at 12 anyway and keep our fingers crossed. |

You are invited to view our brand new, free and exclusive to Forces War Records database, containing the full list from Hitler’s Black Book of ‘enemies of the state, traitors and undesirables, marked for punishment or death’.

It has been painstakingly translated from the original German by Forces War Records to mark the 75th Anniversary of Battle of Britain Day, and documents the 2,820 people who would have been arrested immediately if Hitler’s ‘Operation Sealion’ had come off and Germany had invaded the UK, including ‘The Real James Bond’ (AKA Conrad Fulke Thomond O’Brien-ffrench) and ‘Britain’s Schindler’ (AKA Major Francis E. Foley).

Battle of Britain Day, 15th September, is one of the most important days in the British calendar, and we are delighted to be able to release a list of the people whose most likely owe their lives to the brave pilots to mark it.

Go ahead, read more and search to your heart’s content now!
