I tried that, went to settings etc.....buy App!

I think W10 might be more set up for tablets, my DT hated it

It's gone now and am back on W8.1 which is great for what I need

You do not need to buy an app to change file associations!!

You need to do it through Control Panel unless you prefer tinkering around inside the guts of a computer.
Of course, you could always do it through the right click context menu too.

Are you using W10 Errol, if so what hardware are you using?

I'm running it in various guises - virtual machine, dual boot and a standalone machine which has dedicated sound and video cards, 16 Gb of RAM and a quad core processor.

Well Errol might be showing a bit of ankle and exposing his vast technical knowledge ..........but, if so, my ankles and toes are still firmly covered up with my technical knowledge barely peeping out!

Many thanks though Errol and also to you Rollo. I have copied and saved your suggestions ready for when I steel myself to do the deed and change over. Your help and guidance in all matters 'computer' is much appreciated by me and helps me keep within sight of being 'up to date' in these things.
