On a lighter note not losing sleep over it or anything..........

Do we really need the report button ? How many times have comments really been that bad they had to be withdrawn immediately ? On the very rare occasion something is really bad you can still contact Genes and they can check it out, save all this waiting in limbo wondering what was actually written then finding out it's all a damp squid anyway.

I know it's been going on forever and will go on if Genes allow it to, like I said not losing sleep over it. This has been discussed before if memory serves me right when there was a rash of RRing......just throwing it out there for discussion or RRing as the mood goes......

most sites have some sort of Report button, but GR is the only one where I have seen it used so often for needless reporting.

StrayKitten

StrayKitten Report 6 Feb 2017 20:14

The problem is in days gone by, the report button was needed, some comments where very disgusting, n disturbing, and needed to be gone, there and then,

not seen anything worth reporting around here for a very long time now tho, every one seems to behave themselves now lol,

Bobtanian Report 6 Feb 2017 20:57

What does one conclude from that? then............

the "nasty" writers have moved elsewhere?

the "easily upset", have moved on? or have nodded off through boredom....

or vice versa?

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 6 Feb 2017 21:01

Bob .............

an incredible number of people have left GR.

I guess that includes both the provocative posters and the easily upset RR'ers

There were also who RR'd a post simply because they did not like the poster, or did not like a view that was expressed, or because their opinion/view had been challenged.

Even the regular Friday night reporter seems to have gone.

quite so, Sylvia............

I think it would be much better if
Only full paying members could RR :-D

I noticed soon as we stopped Friday night Rucking
And started to get along
The number of poster dropped like a brick :-D

AnnCardiff Report 6 Feb 2017 21:42

so right Joy - Friday night drunks caused mayhem - I remember one said she could smell sheep shit every time I appeared!! I reported it to GR as a racist comment, but they didn't agree!!

JoyBoroAngel

JoyBoroAngel Report 6 Feb 2017 21:46

What an unkind thing to say Ann
she was obviously Jealous ;-)

We did have some good Rucks :-D

Caroline Report 7 Feb 2017 00:59

Interesting....so basically you all seem in agreement that it's nowhere near as bad as it used to be when there was a period when it was nasty. So is there really a need now ? Stop anyone that's being childish right now.
Anyway this was just to see what everyone said as we know Genes would never listen even if we did get hold of them :-D :-D
Thanks for the inputs

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 7 Feb 2017 01:35

Caroline .............

it's nothing like as bad as it used to be,

but then the nasty posts are nothing like they used to be!!

Caroline

Caroline Report 7 Feb 2017 01:49

Yes I know that's why I stopped looking on as often, but if there's really no call for it now why have it there just for a few to mess around.

Like I said it's not really expecting this to go anywhere it's just talking about it....

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 7 Feb 2017 03:41

I don't think we'll ever get any changes made to GR now :-(

InspectorGreenPen Report 7 Feb 2017 06:23

All a reporter has to say is that they are upset or offended by a particular comment, or even better (or worse depending on your point of view) the comment is capable of causing upset.

All per the Guidelines for using the message boards.

maggiewinchester

maggiewinchester Report 7 Feb 2017 07:04

I had a completely innocuous thread zapped a few weeks ago, so they're still around.

StrayKitten

StrayKitten Report 7 Feb 2017 08:20

The problem is for the hundred RR not needed one mighht be! And for me it should stay, just because people deem the post RR'd innocent and not needed for review, someone might genuinely be upset or offended by it, and they have every right to ask Gr to reveiw it rather than say on the post and get lynched, just beccause there veiw is different to the majority.

I dont care how many times my posts are RR, it doesnt matter in the grand scheme of things its not important, the reason the Rr button is there is to get used, and be it by genuine people or silly people who do it usually to course a stir.

Kense

Kense Report 7 Feb 2017 09:06

As Stray says it is needed. I am sure you wouldn't want a post to stay a second longer than necessary if it was racist, homophobic etc.

As for the mischievous reporting, the fact that it causes such a response as this thread demonstrates, is just what the trolls who do it want.

Lately GR seem to have taken a more responsible attitude to reinstating threads and posts.

JoyBoroAngel

JoyBoroAngel Report 7 Feb 2017 09:18

After reading this thread
I think we should keep the RR button :-D :-D

Though it is annoying sometimes
When the threads make no sense because of the holes it leaves :-D

Guinevere

Guinevere Report 7 Feb 2017 10:14

I agree it should stay but think it should only be available to paying members. Then GR can take action against its misuse.
