Some are, and many are not :-D

Now, just think of the delicious irony of this... there is a Lodge in Perth which does consist of many members of the judicial system, whether the executive arm, the administration arm and the people at the pointy end.

It is called The Lodge of Justice :-D :-D :-D

So, Allan, more reason to try to join?

Caroline

Caroline Report 5 Apr 2017 01:08

But aren't they all in a lodge or two themselves ??

Allan

Allan Report 5 Apr 2017 01:03

:-D :-D :-D

We have to behave ourselves locally, Maggie, our Lodge Room is right next door to the Regional Police Station and we have to use their driveway to access the building :-D

The original 'local' Freemason's lodge (1771 or thereabouts) was in the centre of Winchester, just off Jewry Street (it's now 'Smiths').
Now it's on a hill outside the city - well away from habitation!

...I wonder why?...

Allan

Allan Report 5 Apr 2017 00:47

Judging by the age of some of the local ones...not very much :-D

Caroline

Caroline Report 5 Apr 2017 00:46

So Allan please tell what can an average Freemason get up to ?

Allan

Allan Report 5 Apr 2017 00:42

It's surprising what a good Freemason (as well as bad ones) can get up to :-D

There have been complaints of Rowdy and raucous behaviour after the lodges have closed :-0

True, Caroline, mine were Buffs and Oddfellows (poor man's Mason, I believe) - But I bet it left a hand free for the pint!!

Caroline

Caroline Report 5 Apr 2017 00:35

But would a freemason have time to get so drunk what with all those weird handshakes and all :-S

Allan

Allan Report 4 Apr 2017 22:21

Nearly as bad as the Freemasons :-D

So if a bull in a China shop is not good obviously a Buffalo in a pub isn't wise either.

Ummmm one of my GG uncles died at an RAOB meeting.
I've never become a member :-(

He was in his late 70's, apparently P*ssed as a newt, and fell down the (very)steep stairs.
I went on some 'genealogy' research to the pub (Freemantle Arms to be precise)
When he heard, the landlord took me up the same stairs gg uncle John fell down, and showed me the peep hole in the door where the 'Buffs' held their meetings.
THEN he explained how pubs used to be laid out (by using the ceiling beams), with the smoking area totally cut off from the rest of the pub - and the bar!
There was a hatch door.
If you were in the smoking area and wanted a drink, you opened the hatch to order, then closed it..

The best twist to the story then would be he was up there stealing the vicars apples :-D

Sharron Report 4 Apr 2017 18:57

I don't know the details. I just know I am the same age and I am not going to climb one.

Caroline

Caroline Report 4 Apr 2017 18:34

How tall was the tree Sharron and was he pruning it ?

RolloTheRed

RolloTheRed Report 4 Apr 2017 18:23

Apple trees did Isaac Newton no harm. A graft of the original tree is still growing. seems to me that Newton had the better understanding of which way is up.

Caroline

Caroline Report 4 Apr 2017 17:36

Are we maybe getting hooked up on the fact it was an apple tree ?....if he was crazy enough to climb a tree then it was only a matter of time before he did something stupid :-D

It wasn't that far back Dermot.
