I am sixty-four, the same age at which my great-great -grandfather died very suddenly, in fact he dropped dead. |

By dropping dead do you mean he dropped from the tree ? |

Sharron | Report | 4 Apr 2017 13:49 |
I do indeed, on his head, silly old sod! |

Sorry but I have to admit that's sad but funny in many ways....what was he doing up a tree;vicars or otherwise; at that age?!! |

Historically, apple trees have a tarnished name as far as accidents & other sordid happenings are concerned. |

It wasn't that far back Dermot. |

Are we maybe getting hooked up on the fact it was an apple tree ?....if he was crazy enough to climb a tree then it was only a matter of time before he did something stupid :-D |

Apple trees did Isaac Newton no harm. A graft of the original tree is still growing. seems to me that Newton had the better understanding of which way is up. |

How tall was the tree Sharron and was he pruning it ? |

Sharron | Report | 4 Apr 2017 18:57 |
I don't know the details. I just know I am the same age and I am not going to climb one. |

Caroline | Report | 4 Apr 2017 18:58 |
The best twist to the story then would be he was up there stealing the vicars apples :-D |

So if a bull in a China shop is not good obviously a Buffalo in a pub isn't wise either. |

True, Caroline, mine were Buffs and Oddfellows (poor man's Mason, I believe) - But I bet it left a hand free for the pint!! |

It's surprising what a good Freemason (as well as bad ones) can get up to :-D |

So Allan please tell what can an average Freemason get up to ? |
