He's rightfully suing the BBC and South Yorks Police and I hope he wins.

But...is it a case of no smoke without fire or is it a case of celebrities getting picked on to get money out of them in the wake of Saville?

Dermot

Dermot Report 12 May 2017 12:44

Never judge pop idols by the brand name on their limos.

Sharron

Sharron Report 12 May 2017 15:03

I really have no idea as to the strength of his case but I am pleased to see somebody who has the wealth to do so suing the big corporations.

Paul McCartney sued EMI over royalties and people were saying it was just greed on his part. During my work for PRS I was talking to a musician who had compose the incidental music for the film of 'On the Busses', maybe not his finest hour but EMI never did pay him for it and he was in no position to sue them.

Everyone is equal before the law whenever the contesting parties have equal financial resources & a slither of political influence.

Guinevere

Guinevere Report 12 May 2017 18:07

I hope someone in the police is hung out to dry. Very unprofessional behaviour.

Linda

Linda Report 12 May 2017 18:23

I think he is right to sue after all the the police must have informed the BBC that they were going to search Cliffs house or if they had not informed them they should have told them to stop Fleming.

Caroline

Caroline Report 12 May 2017 18:37

Remind me did the camera crews actually go into the property or just happened to be waiting outside as the police turned up?

Annx

Annx Report 12 May 2017 18:39

I hope he wins too.

Whilst there's no denying that there was some awful behaviour and goings on with some celebrities in the past, I think it is a shame but a fact that 'compensation' will have attracted some of the unscrupulous to make false accusations. Maybe there shouldn't have been any compensation? After all, how do you arrive at a figure when everyone's experience and perception of their experience and it's effect is different? I don't see how the fact they have money alters the effect of what the victims have experienced.

Eldrick

Eldrick Report 12 May 2017 18:47

No, thats actually wrong. The only people with rights to to enter are those named on the warrant. Medical staff are never named - there is an implicit right of entry to save life. Bu tthey won't go in as a matter of course. In 32 years I never ever heard of a pathologist going into premises on a search warrant or any other warrant. Why would he (or she?) A warrant to enter premises always names those it applies to and what may be searched for. Any videos and photos are subject to the DPA and RIPA.

They were tipped off by an insider from Operation yewtree, the Saville enquiry Caroline, and filmed it from outside. They accept it was unlawful and I think they seem to be just discussing how much they are going to compensate him. Sir Cliff will probably give it to charity, he's such a lovely old chap.

Caroline

Caroline Report 12 May 2017 19:05

Thought they didn't go in but couldn't be bothered to Google it if I'm honest, it was just when Rollo inferred they'd gone in with the police. So basically they were filming what was in the public view anyway, albeit they were tipped off the raid was going to happen, which is obviously wrong.

I've been told by a judge that I have nice eyes :-D

Sharron

Sharron Report 12 May 2017 21:22

My Uncle Sid was a judge.

I think he sometimes even did the vegetable shows in other villages too.

Eldrick

Eldrick Report 12 May 2017 21:28

Well, theres a thing. The Judge in the case is Mr Justice Mann. So he has been discussing the case with a member of the public. Or he has revealed confidential matters to another judge who has been blabbing to some random member of the public. Have you any inkling of how serious a matter that is? Have you declared your conversation with this judge to both parties? It's absolute dynamite which could change everything. You present a serious moral dilemma if this is the case. You may want to reconsider that allegation!

I have to say your portrayal of CS management seems to come from TV or google, unlike mine which is from 32 years practical experience :)

Oh - I wasn't in court - I was in a pub :-D :-D :-D :-D

...I was in a pub with my husband - the judge was just being nice - you know, some men can do that without any devious thought.

Caroline

Caroline Report 12 May 2017 23:04

Hmm so the law is an arse...and Maggie has nice eyes....Sharron knows someone who knows a thing or two about veggies....the BBC did it seems gain access to the inside of the property..did they ever show it or was it a total waste of time?...and Rollo is friends with some judge who will gossip if bought a drink or two...maybe I should write a book on this too but I'd need clarification on a few points anyone want to help? :-D :-D

A judge who sat in Canterbury Crown Court has been sacked after trolling his critics online under a pseudonym.

Recorder Jason Dunn-Shaw posted abusive messages in response to commenters who critiqued and lambasted his judgment.

The article in question covered a case where a woman avoided going to jail after causing a car crash in which two people were left in a burning car. Mr Dunn-Shaw handed out a suspended jail sentence.

Maybe these judges are of a different level...being higher they don't care/get caught after all one wouldn't have a quiet little cheeky glass in the snug with just any old judge. :-)

32 years as a police officer dealing with crime scenes. Hence the science background, then a degree in astrophysics, an extension of a degree in physics. Which explains CERN :) So there you have it. Lots of areas of interest and expertise - I don't stray outside of them though. I confess to knowing little about television and my French is poor. My genealogy expertise is middling and my knowledge of wine is non existent. People who actually know me will vouch for all of that.

But, Rollo, you specifically say a judge told you. A judge - not a clerk, not a reporter, not anyone else - a judge. It is disturbing to hear that a judge has been gossiping about a confidential high profile case. In the interests of fair play, you need to do the honourable thing and disclose your conversation. It's a game changer and would be absolute dynamite to the press. 'Judge tells a member of obscure genealogy chat room confidential details of Cliff Richards litigation'.

Unless, of course, it didn't happen. :-D :-D :-D
