Today I have to go to the chapel of rest. I am not looking forward to it.
Mrs Rollo is coming with me, she and mother got on really well.
Mum was not in decline she had good eyesight, full mental faculties and was mobile
. She was full of fun not just past memories.
She loved nature, historical novels, art, oh cooking, politics. Active member of local party. She has five great grand children who all loved her.

Rollo, I am so very sorry,much more than I can express. Try, in time to come, to remember all those things that your mother loved to do and the things that made her laugh.

My sincere sympathy to you and all your family.

My mum left a note in her diary of all her "blessings", and a copy of this poem which I sent out to her friends, it will be of absolutely no consolation now but you may remember it further down the line.

"Remember me when I am gone away,
Gone far away into the silent land;
When you can no more hold me by the hand,
Nor I half turn to go yet turning stay.

I think it may be a help and comfort if you concentrate on the knowledge that you did all that you could for your Mum - and more importantly she knew that too.

Many of us are aware how difficult it is to strike a balance between getting the best for our loved ones, or risking the ire of senior Medics.

I'm so sorry to see your news Rollo. Your mother sounded quite a character with zest for life and enjoyment of it, which makes her treatment or lack of it, despite your best efforts, all the more frustrating and distressing.
