That neighbour should be holding their head in shame :-(

The poor pensioner and his wife aren't even at the house so won't see the 'tributes'

It's a shame the burglar's family can't behave with more dignity and respect, people might have more sympathy for their loss.

Trouble is they think they are being respectful and have dignity!

If the flowers are on one fence where they are allowed it could well contain a situation that is set to erupt.

Those women are not going to give up and allowing them a designated place makes the whole thing much more controllable.

Caroline Report 13 Apr 2018 12:16

Other than it's cheap and trashy Sharron it's not in the right place as already stated.

Now it seems the taxpayers will end up paying for the funeral !

Sharron

Sharron Report 13 Apr 2018 12:24

But they are not going to stop the women who are doing nothing illegal. What they are doing is a civil torte, it is up to the owner of the fence to sue them.

If somebody gives them permission to use their fence, it will contain the problem and make it less likely to become some kind of civil disturbance which would cost the public a great deal more to police.

Its intimadation :-(

Sharron

Sharron Report 13 Apr 2018 12:32

But both sides could argue that.

Caroline

Caroline Report 13 Apr 2018 12:36

The act itself is being seen by most as intimidation....that's debatable....BUT...the "ladies" are actually making comments it seems about seeking revenge that's clearly not acceptable.

AnninGlos Report 13 Apr 2018 12:42

Don't know how true it is but I read that the person on whose fence the flowers are being put, has said he won't complain because if he does he is frightened they will burn his house down.

Sharron

Sharron Report 13 Apr 2018 12:42

Two women.

In another situation, they would be lauded.

If the police were to intervene, the repercussions could be enormous. Travellers are an ethnic minority.

This is a huge can of worms.

Caroline

Caroline Report 13 Apr 2018 12:53

Has it just been two "ladies" I thought I'd seen a few more?

It is a difficult situation in many ways BUT just because you're in a minority doesn't mean you should "get away with" things most of us wouldn't dream of doing.

As everyone is saying without the burglary in the first place none of this would have happened.

You have to wonder whether some do what they do just because they can hide behind "Hey I'm a minority"

Sharron

Sharron Report 13 Apr 2018 13:00

The women, who may or may not have been aware that the burglary was going to happen, were not actually involved in it.

However it happened, they have still lost a loved one and they need to be shown due respect, if only so they can't make a big deal of it later!

The police are actually doing a job of containment at the moment because there is no proof of anything as yet.

Caroline

Caroline Report 13 Apr 2018 13:07

I hear what you're saying....I would question how much respect is just automatic in society and how much is earnt.

Sharron

Sharron Report 13 Apr 2018 13:15

That goes for a lot of positions I think.

Caroline

Caroline Report 13 Apr 2018 13:33

Totally agree.....I would put my neck on the line and say this situation doesn't deserve the same respect. If he'd gone to rob and not been armed and was attacked then it would have been slightly different. This was a fit young man who probably knew it was an older couple in the house. I would assume the screwdriver was to gain entry not as a weapon so he wasn't armed as such but as soon as I pick a piece of wood up and use it, it's a weapon. He held the senior captive, in my book you respect seniors not attack them.
As for the "ladies" a few bunches of flowers where he died would be showing respect, so many and saying what they're saying is not.

Sharron

Sharron Report 13 Apr 2018 13:41

I think these are two seperat issues.

Of course the police are totally committed to investigating the burglary but this is still an investigation that is under way. It is a criminal issue so they can be totally immersed in it and will be so.

The deposition of flowers is another matter. It is a bereaved family paying tribute. Currently, it is a few women laying flowers and performing no criminal act so the police involvement must be discrete. It is important that they do not inflame the situation because, once they have male travellers involved, it could become a very difficult situation.

Caroline

Caroline Report 13 Apr 2018 13:49

Except....they have made negative comments whilst doing this..I get it they're hurt but still.

Anyway, it's good to see respect here as we clearly don't totally agree 100% here but no being silly and being rude or name calling.

Now didn't you promise me a nice bottle of beer where is it??

JoyBoroAngel

JoyBoroAngel Report 13 Apr 2018 14:01

The only people who are going to win this are the florists

Its the same two women putting up the flowers
He didn't die where the flowers are
so why bother putting them there :-(

Sharron

Sharron Report 13 Apr 2018 14:20

Of course, the only people who can explain the actions of the women are the women themselves.

Apart from all else, they will be heartbroken and confused, no matter what the circumstances, and are doing what they feel they can.

To be fair, nobody yet knows the exact circumstances of the death except that they had certainly not been invited into the house.
