I'm the oldest.

4 brothers and 2 step-brothers.

I'm only in touch with one brother.

2 feral brothers
1 "disturbed" brother
I haven't seen my step-brothers since their father's funeral

Not sure if our family is "disfunctional" or "typical"

One of each brother and I were as close as anything as children, but his personality disorder makes him impossible to be close to any more

I still love the person he was to bits, but the one he is now needs to be kept at a distance for both our sakes :-(

My sister and I loathed each other as children, but we are close now :-D

Strange how life works isn't it?

I have one sister she is nearly five years younger than me. We have never had a miss word or argument, even though she used to sneakily borrow my clothes make up etc. We look nothing alike, she is bigger than I am, so I call her my big sister <3 <3 <3 My BIL has just been diagnosed with bowel cancer, and is due for an operation later this month, they have been together since they were fifteen, and he is more like a brother to me. My heart is breaking today for them and what they have to face, I love them both <3 <3 <3 <3

Sorry if it's inappropriate to post this on here.

There were three of us, my younger brother who was born in 1945 sadly he died aged 64 in 2010. My younger sister who was born in 1953 - the last time we were in touch was in early part of 2010. I was born in 1943 and we were all quite close till our father died and between his death and the death of our mother we sort of drifted apart. My father died aged 57 in 1974 and my mother died aged 67 in 1988.

I had 3 older brothers and 1 older sister, sadly all passed away by 2004.

11 years, 14 years, 17 years and 19 years between each of them and me.

Still miss them dreadfully.

I have one sister seven years younger than me - she hasn't spoken to me for just over seven years now - a trivial falling out over her appalling son in law - she chose him over me and that was the end of that - don't miss her one little bit, just so glad my Mum and Dad are no longer here to know about it

Her husband is an alcoholic and a compulsive liar which has caused many arguments - but she always believes him - she was well on her way to alcoholism last time were were in touch so no doubt they are now both living in a haze of alcohol - and do I care? not a jot.

I have a lovely caring son and daughter in law, loyal, true friends, lots of loving first cousins and a couple of aunts still left - she has no one except her lying drunken husband, her cheating son in law, her slapper of a drug taking daughter and a wimp of a son :-D :-D

First of all - what a happy thread. No unpleasantness.
Nice one, Lisa!

I had two lovely older sisters (by 13 and 11 years) who have both sadly passed away from different cancers. They had more or less left home when I started school.
We were all on very good terms, however, and I wish I had known them for longer.
I am still in regular 'touch' with their families.

Paula+ I am so sad to hear about your BiL. I hope his operation is successful.
Kinda bin there dun that with my late lovely and very bubbly SiL!

No, I don't think it was inappropriate for you to note about him.
It's something you really feel you want to mention to folks as you care for him at this sad time in your family's life. xx

Thank you Barry, I try so hard to stay positive for my BIL and my sister. They were both fantastic support to me when my husband became iil. He died eight years ago from cancer, I have lost so many friends and family to this dreadful disease I pray that my dear BIL will be one of the lucky one.
