My G G Granfather was George Rademacher. Not sure what year that he was born but wont be too far off this.Obviously he came over to England on the boat when all the Prussians were leaving Germany for a better life.He married a Lady called Mary Ann.My Grand Father Mathew was one of his sons.He later became Wheelwright as I think others did and maybe even himself.Would like to find his birth and Parent details, also where he came from and when he came over.Any help appreciated....

Christine Report 23 Oct 2008 17:40

Sorry,it was in the heading but it has not all came out.Must have been too long.He was born in Hamburg Germany.Sorry Irene not Kensington. He was born we think in the 30s at some point but unsure of when.He died in 1910 in Liverpool. We know he was in Liverpool from 1851 onwards but in all 3 census reports onwards the spelling of his name changes........

Unsure about the 1901 as I dont have that info. The rest is ok though. He was married to Mary and had 4 sons William,John,George and Livi.Eventually though,Livi Radermacher became Mathew Wheelwright.....

Hi alviegal.Post at the top says relation caretaher,is this something mis-spelt or what does it mean...

Cassidy

Cassidy Report 23 Oct 2008 18:37

Colin,Caretaker,Cass

Cassidy

Cassidy Report 23 Oct 2008 18:46

1901 census. He was a Caretaker at 169,Duke Street,[Mount Pleasant] Liverpool and also occupation as, "Passenger Agent"

His wife died in 1877.

Colin

Colin Report 23 Oct 2008 19:04

That is spot on then Cass.He was an immigration Agent. So this is him.Is there any way that we can find him before coming over this way.....What info do you have for his wife...

Cassidy

Cassidy Report 23 Oct 2008 19:30

I believe I've now found him in the 1861 census.

George Radencher c 1833,Hamburg,lodging at 29,St Vincent Street,Liverpool.

He was single and his occupation was Office Clerk.

I'd say that this is your man.

You have to allow for transcription error's and also, this name is on Passenger list's from Hamburg to the U.S.A.

I'm trying to find the marriage as he probably would have c 1862.

Cassidy

Cassidy Report 23 Oct 2008 19:33

I should think he would have only been in the country a few year's prior to 1861.if that!

Cassidy

Cassidy Report 23 Oct 2008 19:38

George's Wife,Mary Ann died 1877 and registered death at West Derby,Lancashire

Hi Cass.Yes we have all this info to a point. As far as we know he was over here from at least 1850 as he is on the 51 census. It is only really the info before this that we require.Thanks...Colin

Colin

Colin Report 23 Oct 2008 21:20

Had a feelin that we would get no further.Has anyone any ideas about gettin this info. How would I go about it.Has anyone any records of any of these coming over on the boats or any records in Germany.....

Cassidy

Cassidy Report 24 Oct 2008 11:38

Colin.Seem's strange that Christine did'nt have him on the 1901 census.
If you'd have explained in your "Thread"that you had the census info of 1851,then maybe you could have shared that with the people who've been trying to help you and maybe then we would have had some different Clue's to assist you.

Colin Report 24 Oct 2008 12:08

Hi Cass.I appreciate all help that I can get but if you look back to the posts 16.56,17,40 19,04 and 20.02 especially the 1740 one,you will see that the only info that I am looking for is before he came over. The 17.40 post informed all, that I knew where he was from 1850 onwards so if anyone needed to know they only had to ask.I understand that you require certain bits of info in order to track back and thats understandable.I will have a look if I can find the details for 1851.Think that his name was spelt quite different, that may help a little.Thanks....Colin

Colin

Colin Report 24 Oct 2008 12:29

Sorry Cass, the info that I had given out about 1850 was wrong.Just looked back at the records and it was 1861.The info that you had about George Redencher of Vincent Street was the last record that we found, but was unsure if him or not.Sometimes its a matter of looking at all the different parts of the info and putting 2 and 2 together.
We were told by a member of the family who has most of the records and certificates to back them up,that he poss came over in or around 1860.This may well be due to the fact that he can not find him on the 1851 census.
Anyway thanks again for all your help,it is fantastic that people are prepared to put themselves out for other peoples needs, and it is greatly appreciated.I hope that one day,we can do the same for you...Colin

Colin Report 24 Oct 2008 12:47

I think were I was going wrong was that we did find George Radermacher in the 1851 census that gives a birth date of 1838.He was resident in Middlesex. We did not have any more info on this so dismissed it.May well be him,I do not know......
