I am looking to trace my relatives on my mothers side of the family, I have traced back too great grandfather his name is Thomas Kennedy year of birth 1889 married to Elizabeth Cummings, from manchester, ( salford, bury, or weaste area ) thanks for any information. Elaine marshall.

Thomas would have been 38 when he married Elizabeth so this may be a 2nd marriage for him. Might be worth buying the cert to find out.

The marriage cert would also give the names of Thomas and Elizabeth's fathers to make finding them on the cenuses easier

Hi Janice thanks for your help earlier today, regarding my relatives Thomas Kennedy + Elizabeth Cummings.
I don't have much info. He was a gardener, farmer and pet shop owner; his place of birth was Ireland and place of death Salford, Manchester. His marriage was January 1894. I am not a hundred percent sure he is a Thomas, he could be Herbert?
He had 9 children, all boys: george was the youngest and married olive rennie - my grand parents.
I hope this can help you a bit more, thanks again I really appreciated it.

he cannot have been born in 1889 as you put in your header message, but 1869 is a possible.

With George, this would be 9 boys. Doesn't seem to be an elder Thomas. Eldest son fits in with marriage date.

as you are not sure of if he is Thomas or herbert it would be worth getting the marriage certificate of your granparents to prove his name and occupation
