hi am trying to find information on a thomas lennie, i know he married a helen fletcher on 23/11/1845 in angus scotland, i also know they had a son in 1861 called richard lennie, am trying to find other children they had and also trying to find out his d.o.b and date of death i have searched family search.org and can only find there marriage, any help would be much appreciated

am not sure can you find them on the 1871 census?

I'm assuming the family goes across 2 pages in the 1861. Thomas, Helen & two eldest are mistranscribed as Lewine while family on the other page is transcribed correctly.

so between posts from Ozi and I it would seem that Thomas died somewhere between 1861 - 71 and if he's Christina's father that narrows it down further to around 1866 - 71?

Certificate reads

Thomas Lennie (Labourer) married to Helen Fletcher died May 8th 1870 at Woodhead Cargill aged 69yrs.......father given as William Lennie (Labourer (deceased)).......cause of death Supposed to be Heart Disease (not certified no regular medical attendant) Certificate witnessed by William Lennie (son)

Jessie is commonly a diminutive of Janet in Scotland

Am I reading this right?
Aileen says that Thomas Lennie died 1870 aged 69 years so he was born 1801.
If he married Helen in 1845 he was then 44 years old. Helen was 21 years younger - young enough to be his daughter (but mt husband is 22 years older than I am)
Richard was born in 1861 when Thomas would be 60 years of age and then when Christina came along in 1866 her father was 65 years old?
I know this isn't impossible - just wondering if it's accurate. Melody - what do you think?

Oliphant's Vennel is still there although it's changed a bit since 1880
