Thomas Embleton (b.c1831 England) and Sarah ??? (b.c 1832 England) married in 1850 Newcastle-on-Tyne, arrived in Victoria, Australia 1856. I believe they settled in Ballarat . They had three children. Sarah petitioned for divorce in c1871. I would appreciate some help in finding out when and where they died and the names of their parents. Lyne

???? births of the children on the shipping passenger list, from www.freebmd.org.uk
Births Mar 1851 (>99%) Embleton Robert Chester le Street 24 44
Births Dec 1852 (>99%) Embleton Elizabeth Chester le Street 10a 246
Births Dec 1854 (>99%) Embleton Mary Hannah Chester le St. 10a 270
although I have to say that Embleton is quite a common name in that area of the country. There was even an Embleton Hall, and a village called Embleton, apparently.

Have just checked Victorian Colonial Newspapers.
The article does mention a Sarah?. Unless its a typo error!!
The Argus (Melbourne, Vic. : 1848-1954) Wednesday 20 September 1871
EMBLETON V. EMBLETON. ( as written ) This was a petition by Sarah Embleton for a dissolution of her marriage with her husband Thomas Embleton, on the ground of adultery and desertion. Mr. Molesworth, for petitioner ; no appear- ance for respondent, Petitioner and respondent were married at Newcastle-on-Tyne in 1850. In 1856 they came to this country, where they have since resided. In 180G Embleton ill-treated his wife, and beat her so severely that she went away to her father's. Her husband aftorwards refused to take her back, and in 1867 he lived with a girl named Walsh, by whom ho had a child. He had since left that girl, who, it wns stated, was recently married. The petition, besides asking for a dissolution of marriage, prayed that Mrs. Embleton might be allowed to keep her children, who were li, 14, and 7 years respectively.
