On the original it just states Cotton spinner, i think the "Lans" bit refers to Lancashire.as that comes under where he was born

Lans (As in Lancashire) is part of where he was born.
Bolton Lancashire and he was a Spinner.

Thanks for the marriage PricklyHolly. So only married for approx 18 months, not the 4 years they said on the census.

Off to look for lizzie's birth.

Edit: Found marriage on Lancs OPC....Hannah was a widow.

I found two possible births for Abraham Dec 1881 or Jun 1882.

Could I push my luck and ask SKS to see if they can find Abraham, with father James, on the 1891 census.

The number of years married may have been guess work as it was written in by the enumerator.

There is not a birth recorded for a Lizzie or Elizabeth Crompton in Bolton.....

However, there is this one..........

Births Dec 1907 (>99%)
SHALLCROSS Elizabeth Bolton 8c 411

Which might be why Abraham didn't fill in the number of years married!
