My husband great grandfather was Harold Henry Hadring born 17 December 1906 Chirstchurch Bournemouth.

Father is George John Harding Master Greengrocer and Mothr Alice Lavina Harding nee White living at 96 Stewart Road Bournemouth.

Harold married Jane Elizabeth Plant 04 April 1931 Coventry. His Father George is deceased.

I have today been to the local FHC and looked at the electoral registers to try and find Harolds family.

In 1933 Harold is living with his wife Jane and a Nicolas Lacey. In 1932 It is Nicholas Lacey and Alice Lavina Lacey and again in 1931.

At the time of Harolds marriage he put the address as 50 St Margarets Road this is the address I have checked and as you will see in both 1931 and 1933 Harold is not listed so where is he?

Harold is aged 24 on his marriage certifciate and is bachelor, mechanic motor car adjustments:

Also note Alice Lavina Lacey is livng with Nicholas Lacey as her husband could she have remarried. I cannot find a marriage for a Harding to a Lacey.

50 St Margarets Road Coventry was the family home.

Can anyone hlep with this?

Many thanks
Candis

Maybe George Harding wasn't actually her husband which is why she married Nicholas Lacey in 1915 under she maiden name

Candidiasia

Candidiasia Report 28 Jul 2011 20:05

That is possible but there were 2 older children and one younger than Harold. All according to the 1911 cenus.

Hi Catherine

That all seem to fit. Looks like I may need to order two marriage certs the one for George John Harding and Emily Louisa Rogers. and the one for Nicholas Lacey and Alice White.

The husband wanted me to go up the Harding line I hope this solves it

Thanks

Catherine

Having trouble finding the rest of the family in 1901???

Possible that the death is her so should maybe look in the Somerset area in 1901 census?

Catherine

Catherine Report 28 Jul 2011 21:02

This looks to be the Emily Louisa in the death record:-

1901
Name: Emily Louisa Harding
Age: 42
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1859
Relation: Patient
Gender: Female
Where born: N

Civil parish: Wells St Cuthbert Out
County/Island: Somerset
Country: England

Street Address:

Occupation: Lunatic

Condition as to marriage: single

Registration district: Wells
Sub-registration district: Wells
ED, institution, or vessel: Somerset and Bath Pauper Lunatic Asylum
Neighbors: View others on page
Household schedule number: 1
Piece: 2315
Folio: 177
Page Number: 29

........there is also a birth record that matches so looks as though you can eliminate this death!

Candidiasia

Candidiasia Report 28 Jul 2011 21:23

So my best bet is to start with the two marriages listed above

Catherine

Catherine Report 28 Jul 2011 21:56

1911 gives Alice as being born 1881 in London.

I couldn't find a birth for Alice Lavina White, but, there is this one, which could very well be her:-

(freebmd)
Births Mar 1882 (>99%)
Wright Alice Lavina St. Saviour 1d 194

(ancestry)
Name: Alice Lavina Wright
Date of Registration: Jan-Feb-Mar 1882
Registration district: St Saviour Southwark
Inferred County: London, Surrey
Volume: 1d
Page: 134

Name: Alice Lavine Wright
Record Type: Baptism
Estimated Birth Date: abt 1882
Baptism Date: 16 Jun 1882
Father's name: Edward Wright
Occupation: ? Builder
Mother's name: Christian Beachiam Wright
Parish or Poor Law Union: Walworth St John the Evangelist
Borough: Southwark
Address: 35 Charles Street

also the same day:-
Herbert Henry Wright
and
Beatrice Florence Wright

...........marriage cert. will confirm as this will give you her father's name and occupation!
