There's no other info other than she normally belonged to Ireland and intended to stay in the US.

Now, is it a coincidence that this chap departed from, and arrived at, the same ports as the Mary H Usher I posted on page 1?

However, this chap is a farmer from England, not a German mariner as per the marriage record.

My Mary Usher was born in Ireland around 1842. The last I found of her was the 1861 census and she was living in Liverpool.

It is has been so difficult trying to sort the "Usher" side. I was hoping this could be another lead. have not given up that it might still be the right Mary. will have to do some more research.

It says she's born in England in April 1841 and her father was English and mother Irish. The records for the children say their father was German (like the marriage record). If Mary had come to England at a young age might she have thought of it as her home country? Son James born Mass, where that 1865 marriage record was.

I do think this looks promising and only hope I can tie it up with my Mary, Had a quick look to see if anyone else had them in their tree but no such look. Also tried on Ancestry but again nothing.

I refuse to abandon the ship, so to speak and will keep on trying and hopefully tie it up with my Mary.

Definitely think that's the same family as in the 1900.

Oh good. will try searching other trees using the various spellings for the surname. Fingers crossed something will turn up.

I must admit I am woefully ignorant about your neck of the woods, but obviously will know do some searching for information about the places and also look for the addresses. Something to keep me busy.

The rest of the Ushers all lived in poverty in Liverpool, and my OH was the first to be born outside of Liverpool. when his father moved to the beautiful Cheshire Countryside Knutsford where we still live. OR SO HE THOUGHT. Would love to tell him he was wrong !!!!!!!!! :-P :-P

Ollie - by my neck of the woods I mean Seaton Delaval! I noticed it on your "Researching ... " line - I'm very close to there.

Ooops!!! Yes my mum was born in Seaton Delaval. I still have relatives living around that area. Her surname was Wardle
and I have got back to around 1765 and they have all lived in the Northumberland/Newcastle area.
