Would it be possible to get any info. on his old army records & any other info . He was called James Williams he came from Lancaster Street,Netherfield Road, Liverpool 5. She thinks his mother was called Josephine. Any info. would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance. :-)

Thank you, it's looking as though he is the 2nd one, as he was 17 when he died.

Does she not know the names of the parents of her grandmother ?

Made a few enquiries, he died in 1918, thanks for helping. :-)

james' mother was called Josephine Williams, not sure of his fathers forename. x

AnnCardiff

AnnCardiff Report 28 Jan 2012 21:33

there are 848 J Williams' so it's a bit futile really - some of them do give full names but motly they are just J Williams - it's heartbreaking looking at them all - I had an uncle died in WW1 - David John Williams - he was about 19 years old

MargaretM

MargaretM Report 28 Jan 2012 21:35

Ann, surely it's an exercise in futility listing all of the J. Williams from Liverpool who were killed in WW1. There's probably hundreds, maybe a thousand.

And, Flowers, how can you possibly say it looks like the 2nd. one? No age is given and no mother's name.

FLOWERS

FLOWERS Report 28 Jan 2012 21:36

Thank you for looking, it is so sad, all those young lives lost.

MargaretM

MargaretM Report 28 Jan 2012 21:37

There are 277 J. Williams killed in 1918.

FLOWERS

FLOWERS Report 28 Jan 2012 21:37

I thought it was the 2nd one because of 1918, thought there was only 2 listed.

AnnCardiff

AnnCardiff Report 28 Jan 2012 21:40

I did say it was futile Margee

Could you perhaps ask your friend how she knows her grandmother had a brother called James?

Puzzled as to why she does not know the name of the parents.
