Please look for William HUNTER b. 1880 Margate Kent. I know he's there, as a house painter aged 21, but wondered who he is with.

Thank you!

Also - bit cheeky - can you please look for the following in 1901/1911?

Charles CHAPMAN b. 1877 in St Giles Mdsx
and
Henry CHAPMAN b. 1882 St Giles Mdsx

jax Report 29 Jan 2012 04:23

Who were their parents?

Cherilyn

Cherilyn Report 29 Jan 2012 04:33

Thanks for looking. Maybe he went overseas, I may never find him!

Believe both CHAPMAN parents - Emma & Wm - were decd by 1891. The younger 3 chn were in a home in Strand in 1891 Census - the two boys with older sister Lydia (my grt grandmother).

Certainly Wm was decd by 1900 when Lydia married (I have the cert).

In 1881, the older children (Emma 1870, Caroline 1873, Chas 1877) are all listed with parents - except Lydia 1875, who is a real mystery! No one can seem to find her in 1881, probably mistranscribed with another family.

I can't trace Emma or Caroline either. The family are all a bit annoying! I have just ordered Wm & Emma's marriage cert from GRO so maybe I can get further back at least.

Yes that's them - I have Lydia's birth cert showing she was born at Endell St too (Lying-In Hospital), as shown for all the other chn in 1881.

Just had an idea - are you able to see the actual images of the censuses? Emma's maiden name was Morley so I am wondering if this is Lydia with her grandfather in 1881, mistranscribed?

Omg Vera! That is amazing. His middle name WAS Hugh! :-D He was born 20 Jan 1880 in Margate.

When you say "with brother David.Henry, Margate Kent", do you mean as next of kin, or also enlisting?
