hi AnnCardiff

Thank you for your reply, the George Grant in the above is not the one I'm looking for because his daughter Agnes was born in the early 1850s
so I'm thinking that her father George must have born around early 1825 or so, I'll have to try and find his marriage.

But most of the information above is a great help for me so many thanks for for your time and effort

Hi Christine
Thank you also for all your help I'm not sure about the wife (Jane) though
As I said I will just have to find George's marriage

Christine many thanks for for your time and effort also

Kind regards

To you both

ChristinaS Report 13 Jul 2012 11:02

Tom, may I ask why you think Agnes' mother's name was Mary/Maria?

Agnes' marriage certificate shows her father to be a general dealer named George.

The 1861 census shows Agnes to be living with George Grant (a general dealer) and Jane.

The 1851 census shows George and Jane Grant living with Agnes' older siblings.

Agnes included the names George and Jane, in the names of her own children. She also included the name, Virginia, which was the name of her sister.

Could you please let us know where the mother's name of Mary came from. Then, maybe, we can look at this from a different angle, and come up with something new.

That would make George about 8 years old when he married.
