also catherine that i am researching i have found her in census' 1871,81, 91 & 1901. she is mostly listed as married but there is never a husband there. she is a lodging house keeper. in one census she has william culler listed as a brother, but i cantt find a marriage for a catherine culler that matches.

How did you get back to her if you don't know who she married?

Flip

Flip Report 2 Nov 2012 18:12

Lodging house keeper is rather a loose term, some of my ancestors have been "lodging house keepers" in the same era, mother and daughters with multiple children, with no father "at home". I'll leave you to draw your own conclusions! ;-)

My photo is Agnes, and she had 5 children and lived with her mother a "lodging house keeper" before her marriage to my gg grandfather. Never a husband in site!!! ;-)

Oh damn, that's my cover as a respectable old lady blown, shoud keep my keyboard shut! :-D

In 1871 she is in Darlington, no occupation, but daughter MAry Ann aged 6 shown as born Witton Park, so pretty sure same person. However her age here is 40 (same as the 1881!!)

You might have found her, but I hadn't and was pointing out a 10 year age difference between the two census, which may or may not have helped me or others trying to help you.

i want to know if anyone can find details attatched to the marriages such as fathers names and occupations witnesses etc. yes bridget is gillespie in 1901 census, but livesky in 1911 census as she remarried in 1902.

jax

jax Report 2 Nov 2012 19:10

You will need to purchase the cert to find those details in most cases
