It's interesting to me that if this is him his fathers name is Nicholas. Is it significant that this William is born 1864 and the census 1901 and 1911 is 1868?? Does this happen with birth years often?

	Possible William knocked a few years off his age as the mother of his children was younger than him. The Nicholas ties in nicely with your Nichol ancestors?

Member Since: March 2006 Posts: 14 Send Message	it certainly does tie in nicely in fact in the record of baptism for william richardson rippon (i assumehe dropped the richardson as it totally dissappears) his fathers name is Nichol!! and that is remarkable as it is a very unusual name and i was wondering where it had come from. So the only problem seems to be the from the 1901 census where he loses 4/5 years fromhis age. But I suppose given that there are not a lot of william rippons coming up then it must be him. I will keep hunting for a marriage too. thank you, you have been so so helpfull
