Can you remember any sayings your mum said that you use today?

Here's a good'un passed down to Mum from her mother and probably generations before. Now going forward to my own darlings. They don't seem to say it yet, but you wait till they have their own kids.

After you've done something silly and try to justify it with "Well I thought..."

"You know what Thought did? Followed a dust cart and thought it was a wedding."!

Do you or someone in your family have a nickname?

Not really they just abbreviate our names.
I am San or Sand, son is Jonnie by his friends, dau is called Cart,( I suppose that is a nickname started by my son.Brother in law was Dai in school but now is Dave..Originally David.
My father was John, but known always as Jack, by everyone, except by his best friend also John who and his wife always called him Johnnie.

Do you send a lot of Christmas cards ?

loads,except to church friends as we tend to send one to all the church members and friends to be read out during the notices and give a donation to ,"Help Link" instead,a charity who feed the homeless and provide them with sleeping bags and toiletry essentials.We support them throughout the year.
The cards we buy are charity cards too,usually Leprosy mission and Dogs trust.
Do you keep a diary?

Tried to for a bit in the hazy days of youth. Looked back over it a bit later when I was clearing out for a move. It was so trite I shredded it to save the embarassment of anyone finding it. When life got really interesting and I might have had something to say I didn't find the time.

I've always had difficulty even keeping an appointments and birthdays diary, too haphazard with my entries so I have tended to risk missing things. Always managed to find out something important just in the nick of time and had to waste time rearranging life to make the necessary space. Somehow though I've been pretty good at keeping a work diary just can't keep up the level of organisation in home life. Met OH at a student job way back when and he was surprised in the early days how laid back I can be as he said I was always frighteningly efficient at work. Also having just resigned from my current part time job which I've only been in a short while (not like me not to hang in there), my boss keeps asking me to reconsider as she says I've made a difference around the place because if she mentions something wants doing she usually finds she comes back after her day off to find it done and dusted and with bells on.

I've finally decided to keep a computerised calendar which gives me an email reminder a couple of days in advance and I've got pretty adept at that, don't have to fish to the bottom of my handbag for book and pen I think plus the computer's pretty much always switched on so long as at least one of us is home. Also if I'm not around my computer I put a note in my phone which I transfer later. AND - I moan if OH says he doesn't know when something's due. Get all hoity toity and tell him to look it up on the calendar... Ooh err, get me.

Anyone else a Jekyll and Hyde in a particular aspect of your life?

yes housework lol.Sometimes I am laid back and don't mind the mess the grandkids have made or whatever else needs doing and just cheerfully get on with it.Other times I get really cross and even if my husband helps it's never good enough and I redo it myself moaning and sighing all the while lol
Does your husband/family help around the house?

Oh absolutely. I'd change the locks otherwise! Hoovering's not in my job description, but then cleaning the loo is not in his.

My daughter was stuck here because of the ash cloud having come home for a week that turned into two before she and boyfriend go off travelling. I had the first week off to be with them but the second I had to go back to work although it's only part time. While I was out they cleaned the house top to bottom because they wanted something to do. Then they swept the front drive, cleaned the steps, weeded, deadheaded. OH was going to put in a call to NATS to keep the airspace closed while they completed all the little DIY things he doesn't get round to. Oh and they cooked meals for us AND cleared them away. Been brung up right proper they 'ave.

Has it turned REALLY cold again where you are?

No it's a fairly pleasant day.

Have you got good neighbours ?

Yes we have thank goodness.

We moved to Wiltshire a couple of autmns ago to a road with only 8 houses. After initial chats over the fence we then invited the whole road in (house guests included) for Boxing Day to help get to know the others we hadn't met. (Then we decided to do it every year) That's helped a lot and we've found, where we'd been told that you hardly ever see or get the chance to chat to neighbours, that actually more of them chat now when they see each other on the way in or out. There's only one household we've never met and that's a let out house but it's recently been sold so we'll have new permanent neighbours soonish.

Back in London we had good neighbours too but everyone was so busy there seemed little time to ever get together. Everyone was going their separate ways. Here life is slower anyway so I think that makes it easier too.

Are you a town or country dweller and which do you think you prefer?

Country, I suppose. I'm on the out skirts of town, within 30 mins walking distance east or west to the nearest town, now but lived in the a village way out of walking distance of a town for the first 21 yrs of my life.
I wouldn't mind living in either of the towns but wouldn't like to live in the city.
I like it where I am:)
Real country villages where I first lived has it's disadvantages like no mains supply gas, we had a chance of moving back there as my parents have died and the house(which was sold last week) we could have moved to, but we declined although it's a beautiful spot.

What fuel supplies do you have / use.?

We have gas fires in the living room and dining room and gas central heating.We have an electric cooker though.
Do you prefer gas ,electric or aga type for cooking?

What hot drinks do you like ?

Coffee, although I probably still drink too much of it I have reduced it to some extent.

Have you ever had palpitations from drinking too much coffee? Or bad effects from eating or drinking too much of the wrong things? Is that cheating - 2 questions? Ohh make that 3.

as a diabetic,too much sweet stuff makes me feel poorly and tired.

No, I prefer savoury.

Are you or have you ever been married..?

Yes I have been married to Gary 20 yrs this September.I was married before in 1977 but it only lasted 4 years.

Are you a God parent ?

Yes, to my niece, who now lives on Anglesey:) She's now 31, and just set up home of her own after living with her dad for many yrs after her parents divorced after 20 yrs. It's old fashioned these day's but she still calls me Auntie. ( Makes me feel older than I am ) lol
Hubby's close cousin's young children who live locally just call me by my first name.
Hubby and his brother (God dau's father) only ever called their aunt and uncles by their first names !!
Mine were always aunt and uncle and the remaining one still is Aunt C to all her nieces and nephews :)

Do you ever buy clothes from supermarkets such as Tes*o (Florence and Fred ) or AS*a ( George ) ?

haven't for myself.apart from socks but have bought things for the grand children....................................just remembered I bought pyjamas from Te*co
a couple of months ago.

Do you ever buy grocery items in bulk?

I do a big shop on a Saturday and get fresh foods throughout the week.
If you mean individual items yes if they are on a special offer.
George at As*a and Tes*co have some bargain items for ladies , their jeans and tops are great.

I hate the hairdressers and couldn't get an apt with the stylist I normally go to ( I've only been going in the last 2 or 3 yrs as I previously cut it myself for the last 30 yrs ) so reverted to that today ! It looks so much better as its curly and frizzes in this weather ! It was getting too long and I looked like a wild witch!
