*$parkling $andie*

*$parkling $andie* Report 15 Sep 2010 00:28

We grow our own, so when they are in season about 4 /5 times a week.
They taste so much better fresh out of the ground :))

Do you like Pasta.? If so do you have it often.?

Anne

Anne Report 15 Sep 2010 13:31

It depends but at least once a week, I have an authentic Italian cook book which has some great recipes, I don't make my own pasta but do all the sauces from scratch.

What is your favourite main dish apart from the traditional roast ?

Haribo

Haribo Report 15 Sep 2010 16:35

Vegetable Lasagne and Moussaka, I'm Vegetarian, these two dishes can be cooked in so many different ways using different veg, pulses, herbs and with Lasagne, different pasta.

What oil do you use to cook your Roast Potatoes?

*$parkling $andie* Report 15 Sep 2010 21:00

Do you go to the hairdressers regularly ..?

Anne

Anne Report 16 Sep 2010 13:39

We have a mobile hairdresser who visits every 6 weeks, cheaper than the town and much more convenient.

What is your favourite High Street shop [excluding supermarkets] ?

*$parkling $andie*

*$parkling $andie* Report 16 Sep 2010 14:28

Sorry but unless I go into the city, we don't have a a lot of selection here. I can't exclude supermarkets as we don't have anything else near.!
And I do buy a lot of clothes from George at As*a, I get 10% off cos son works there, and they do have a good range.. Moda for the over 45's.
I don't see the point in paying high St prices when you can get something equally as good for less than half the price. Fred and Florence at Tes*s is very good too.

Do you have discount cards for various shops..?

Easter Bunny

Easter Bunny Report 18 Sep 2010 16:32

no I dont apart from tes*o club card.

If you could have a new facility within half a mile of where you live, what would you choose and why?

Anne

Anne Report 18 Sep 2010 17:03

We are very fortunate where we live as there are cinemas, bowling alley, ice skating, ski slope, sports centre,Coral Reef,Go Ape,theatre & arts centre plus lots of open spaces, we are 5 mins walk away from the Swinley Forest. What we don't have is our own hospital the nearest being at Ascot so that would be the 1st choice, the 2nd being a decent town centre which we have been promised for years but as the one we have now is.three miles away, I wouldn't want it any nearer.

What feature were you live do you appreciate the most ?

LancsLass

LancsLass Report 18 Sep 2010 22:15

We have open moorland behind my house and a nature reserve 5 mins walk away- I dont think we could ask for anything better than that- man-made just cant compete with nature!!

What is your favourite city in the UK that you have visited?

Haribo

Haribo Report 18 Sep 2010 22:20

It has to be my City, London. They say that if you get tired if London then you are tired of living! I agree.

LancsLass

LancsLass Report 18 Sep 2010 22:22

I havent been on the London Eye, but yes I would like too- although I dont like Ferris wheels, but my daughter tells me it isnt the same ( she went on a school trip).

What is your favourite fairground ride?

Haribo

Haribo Report 18 Sep 2010 22:30

I dislike all fairground rides, if I had to choose, then it would have to be the Bumper Cars, I dont like Ferris Wheels, London Eye, is not at all like being on a Ferris Wheel.

Have you seen Xmas Pudds on Sale at your Supermarket yet?...I have!

LancsLass

LancsLass Report 18 Sep 2010 22:37

Im trying to avoid the Xmas season at all costs- I have too many birthdays to think about first, then come 1st dec I can open my eyes and enjoy Christmas!

When do you buy your presents?

Haribo

Haribo Report 18 Sep 2010 22:46

I refust to be drawn into the Xmas hype before Dec. I start buying then. My Hubby and I are share the same December birthday, so we celebrate this just before xmas.

Do you ever go away for Xmas?

LancsLass

LancsLass Report 18 Sep 2010 22:50

Ive never been away for Xmas- too many family members to think about- Id really miss their faces- and I have a grand-daughter this year too- its her 2nd Xmas but she was only 5 days old last year!

I you went away for Xmas where would you go (money no object) ?

DizzieLizzie

DizzieLizzie Report 20 Sep 2010 22:43

Truth be known money no object - I'd ship as many friends and relatives as I could here and spare no expense on a massive celebration.

We tried a restaurant one year - it was lovely food and very welcoming but it wasn't right for us somehow. And we went away to a cottage the year OH's Mum died because the kids said they might do something like go away for Christmas as home would seem wierd with no grandparents. If they did that we'd have been on our tods completely and we didn't fancy that so we said we'd make it special in a different way. We stayed in a converted chapel which made it seem very seasonal and we transported the whole of Christmas with us tree and decorations and all. It was good but I still prefer home at that time of year.

Now we've moved house and started to take in boyfriend's parents and sundry friends of the kids, plus a few of our friends, along with the Boxing Day open invite to the street (it's OK there are only 9 houses in our road (and one of those is Jehovah Witness) we're working back to having the place at capacity again.

I'm an odd mixture of loving the peace and quiet of our new country home, but really like sharing it with people too and having it made the most of.

Do you have any particular strongly contrasting aspects in your personality?

*$parkling $andie*

*$parkling $andie* Report 1 Oct 2010 21:34

A bit like you really Dizzie Lizzie,
tho its' not a strong contrast really

I've finished work, not pensionable age yet.lol, and love the house to myself.
But I then go stir crazy and have to go out and meet peeps for a chat or phone friends or family.

Do you prefer solitude or company ?

Haribo

Haribo Report 1 Oct 2010 21:58

A bit of both really. I dont get to spend as much time alone as I'd like to, when I do, I really appreciate it.
