Claddagh Report 16 Sep 2008 15:32

Have been phoning around to all hospitals nearest to where Joyce lives, and found her at last! Had a chat with her, she sounded a wee bit breathless, but said she was feeling a lot better than she did. Has had 15 bags of fluids so far, and keeps having enemas, so is not blocked anymore. I won't put her exact words about the latter here, because GR may whoosh this.
I have said I will phone again soon.
If anyone wants to phone her, you can p.m me and I will give details. It far too expensive to phone her mobile, this worried her a bit.

Eileen x

Have just phoned Joyce on her mobile, she sounded very cheerful, and, wait for it, she is going home later today, probably this evening!! She had something more substantial to eat today, but must be very careful with what she eats from now on.Apparently, Jan was told that she won't make it next time, which may have given her food for thought, so to speak.Excuse the weak pun.
If you want her landline, please pm me, as I don't think it is such a good idea to put it on the thread.
Liz, I told her that you and Vicky send your love etc. she was very pleased. She said she had text Caz as soon as she heard the good news, but she is in hospital all day today.

Thanks so much Eileen, how kind of you to do that for us all and for Dutch.

Glad she isn't blocked any more lol and maybe once they have hydrated her even more, they will do the scan before she goes bang lol

Hope this doesn't offend anyone!

Can I just say that as well as costing us lots to phone Joyce, it costs her lots to receive the calls so maybe we have to think twice before calling her. Altho we all want to keep in touch and she likes to keep in touch too, she needs to rest and also to keep her costs down.
I know we will get updates from Jan or someone - we can send our positive thoughts from the threads to Joyce, and I am sure they will help.

I agree with liz. Rest is the best thing for joyce.
One person giving her a quick phone call is fine, but not everyone.
whoever phones Joyce or Jan, tell her
I am thinking of her too.

It goes without saying, that phoning the hospital would be expensive for us, and the ward wouldn't want lots of people calling, they have enough to do, so maybe if Jan calls anyone they could ask him to try and find time to let one person know how things are and they can post on here to keep everyone up to date.

Altogether now - send a positive thought to Joyce in the next five minutes and I am sure she will feel the energy bursting through, that will sort out any remaining blockages lol

Forgot to add this. Joyce said it would cost 50 euros to have the phone connected next to her bed,but I assured her she would back any money under that, which she might use for phone calls. I can't even think of the English term for this.A lot of hospitals here in Holland have a phone next to each bed, so you only pay for calls.
Will check the address of the hospital, in case anyone wants to send her a card.

Thanks Eileen, sounds a better idea, the phone by the bed, just as long as she can't get on line for the mo lol while I am up to mischief lol

Good thing she is in a seperate room, if she still is, she will need the wall space for cards lol

This is the address for the hospital and room nr. etc. for Joyce:

Mevrouw Joyce v.d Hoeven-Morgan,
kamer nr. 45,
Gang nr.430,
4de Etage.

Rijnland Ziekenhuis,
Simon Smidweg 1,
2353 GA Leidendorp.

Have no idea if she is in a single room Liz, I forgot to ask. Normally you have one or two others in a room.
Will give her a ring tomorrow.

Am only too pleased to be able to actually DO something to help us all to contact Joyce and tell her just how valued she is.
You put that very well Liz, as it is very expensive to phone to a mobile from another country. If Jan does see about the phone being put next to her bed, that will be far cheaper for all.Maybe she can still use that special number I gave her?
Here's hoping that Jan has some (better?) news after he has visited her this evening.

Thanks Eileen, I think she was in a seperate room which is the norm when someone first goes in, to be assessed and maybe to check out for mrsa, before being in with others. I know Joyce didn't want to be with others in case they all spoke together in Dutch and she felt left out, well that's the way I understood it anyway.

Thanks again Eileen, you've been brilliant.
