She might be in herself but I got a few texts off her last night, she was upset because her grandson is in hospital now in Sheffield. It seems it never rains but it pours.
I will be out all day but will catch up on any updates at teatime.

This must be something fairly new, but if Joyce is in a room alone, she may get more rest.
As for the nurses, she will find they nearly all speak fairly good English.
I will wait until about 13.30 to phone the dept. where she is, the washing, eating, doctor's rounds etc. should be finished by then.
She did receive the flowers and card, they cheered her up a bit.

Have not been in long, everything took far longer than expected.

I phoned the hospital straighaway, but there was a bit of confusion today, different people on the phones etc. They put me through to the wrong dept.although it was the same gangway.Anyway, to cut this short, I was given the direct number for the dept.(so won't have to go through the main desk anymore) where Joyce is, and will phone back after 15.30 as asked by a very friendly nurse. The 'changing of the guards', as I used to call this, is at 15.30, so it is more convenient for them then. They don't give out the patient's own phone number anymore, so I hope the next nurse won't mind taking the phone along to Joyce, if she doesn't have one installed yet.

Will give her your "special thoughts" Liz, and tell her that everyone is rooting for her.

I did include Vicky in the 'special thoughts', she was touched, said you are all a great bunch of people.

I made a mistake with her hospital room number, which doesn't matter now.Instead of 54, I said 45.Here in Holland, they say 4 and 50, if you get me, as it was said way back in England too. That's why I made such a daft mistake. The nurse assured me it would make no difference, and certainly not now that she is being discharged. All further cards etc. will be forwarded to her home address. I for one, hope that she does what the doctors tell her to do. She actually said to me that she always has a bag of sweets on the table....hrrrmp, being a diabetic...well, do I have to say anything further? I am the world's worst for giving advice, I eat an enormous amount of sweet things, because I crave them from the moment I wake up, so how can I advise someone like Joyce not to?
Love her Yorkshire dialect by the way. She sounds such a nice, warm-hearted woman.
