How far back are you with your family tree ?

Have you had any shocks ?

Do other family members help you to do your tree ?

It's been so much fun for me, but I don't think husband and kids found it so much fun. I got really addicted for a while and they got fed up of me, glued to the computer, no dinner, house a mess!

I think I have my addiction under control now. Lol

(Having said that, we were in the UK in the summer and my other half spent 2 weeks driving me around villages searching churchyards for graves, bless him!)

Herefordshire, where I come from and then down to Devon.I lived in Devon before I came to Germany. I didn't know, until I started my tree that a lot of m y ancestors came from there!

Wow, sounds fantastic.

Wondering, could I persuade OH to go to America, Australia and New Zealand to look for the graves there?

Off to look at airfares!

Lol Julia
OH has done the same for me, driving around Herefordshire taking photos of gravestones.- a lovely county though, so no hardship exploring.
I'm lucky that there are still many related people in the same village that I have links to back to 1777 so far.

EDIT
Earlier this year we took photos in New Zealand too !
A chap from that same Herefordshire village must have gone to NZ c.1859.
Couldn't miss an opportunity of following his line !

Gwyn - you lucky thing.

I had similar luck with my Devon lot, all from one tiny area, the parish registers are online and they had a fairly unusual surname. Feel sorry for all the people with names like Smith and Jones in their trees, must be a nghtmare.

When the marriage register was handed in to the Record Office in 2004 it was still only half full. Started in 1837..... shows you how small the place is. Lot's of inter marrying between families!
I have JONES on both sides of my family, but surprisingly the Southampton lot are causing more trouble than my Welsh ones.

Now looking for George Jones a labourer, ...spoilt for choice !

Off to sort out stuff for car boot sale and must start doing the lottery.

Frets - how much do they pay for newspaper rounds, these days?

Wonders if youngest son is still small enough to go up chimneys.

Bother, everybody has central heating these days.
