Kirk Douglas isn't enjoying good health since a troke a few years ago. His son Michael Douglas also an actor has the greatest respect for his father.

Dean Martin was talented in that he was not only an actor, he was an excellent singer and a very funny comedian

Hi David, yes some of my dad's favourite songs were sung by Dino! He was so funny with Jerry Lewis wasn't he, I believe they had a fall out though and didn't speak for many years. Dean Martin lost a son in the Vietnam conflict, it really broke him.

Actully Pam I didnt care much for Jerry Lewis, cramped Dean's style. When Dean went solo he blossomed in so many ways

Just started to watch "Once Upon a Time in the West", one of Sergio Leone's later spaghetti westerns.

I've never seen it before and so far it looks quite good. Doubt whether I'll manage to stay up until 2 in the morning to finish it off but I'll have a go!

Morning all, just having a cuppa as not been home that long from work. Have been covering a few night shifts at the council run care home a few miles up the road from us. I've enjoyed it, it's a lovely run place and not to big.

Yes David, I agree with what you say about Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis. It's often harder to play the straight man as they say, I read once that Lewis was quite envious of Dean Martin. I'm afraid that I'm old enough David to remember watching Dean Martin's television show...I was very young though, still at school!

Think I've seen that film Ed, is Claudia Cardinale in that one? She was and still is, I bet, absolutely stunning.

Yes Claudia Cardinale was in that film, and yes she did and does still look stunning - move over Milla!

(Must say towards the end of the film I wanted to shove that harmonica through Charles Bronson's digestive system in reverse!)

Evening folks, just been watching High plains Drifter on channel 5. It hasn't finished yet but I know the ending as I've seen it so many times.

Yes David, Dean Martin was a boxer and as you say a croupier, he would sing as he dealt the cards and of course it was good for the casino owners as the ladies liked him. He was always a little embarassed by his 'ugly hands' which was due to the boxing. (you'd never guess I've read his autobiography!)

Ed, you made me smile with your comment about Charles Bronson! I always get just a tad aggitated when I see that prat Michael Winner on the E Sure ads on the telly!! You've got the connection I'm sure with Bronson and Winner I know!

Yes David, think we've touched on this before. don't think old Humphry Go kart saw much action though. Lee Marvin I believe was decorated with the purple heart. Not a patch on Audey Murphie though! Not sure if I spelt that correctly.

Yes Ed, have been watching it, dualling banjos, think it was released as a single. Oh dear there are bits in it that are very nasty and that bit you refere to is one of them! When Ned beatty or is it john Voight asks Burt Reynolds," Is he dead Lewis?" Think he replies "He is now."Sends shivers down my spine.

Afternoon all, yes Ed a trip to a good orthodontist wouldn't go a miss! I've always been lucky with my teeth, well I say lucky it's cos I've always looked after them I guess. They are very white too, which is all to do with your genes I think. Anyway I'm going off on another subject again............

I'm on a night shift tonight but will be back on for a look tomorrow evening. Wonder if there's any good films on over Easter, doubt it.

Didn`t catch the duelling Banjos the other night, but I did tell OH ir was on..........not my sort of film.

Watched No Country for Old Men on Sky Premeire last night......not one for the faint hearted, but quite good......never heard of the star before Javier someone? plays a really creepy charecter similar to Quentin Tarantinos charecter in From Dusk till Dawn ,but also had Tommy Lee Jones {looking very old now} and Woody Harrelson looking like hes had some bad plastic surgery.......... a bit blood thirsty but it won a few Oscars last year.

Evening folks, an exellent film on monday evening...Get Carter. Michael Caine at his best.

Couldn't agree more about Get Carter Pam - excellent film, will probably watch it.

There's another good one about to start on BBC2 - Hell in the Pacific. Its about an American pilot (Lee Marvin) and a Japansese naval officer (Toshiro Mifune) who are stranded on a deserted island in the Pacific Ocean. They go on a battle of supremacy against one another and there's a twist ending again.

Love Toshiro Mifune - he done some great films with Akiro Kurosawa - notably Throne of Blood, Yojimbo and the Seven Samurai.

I actually went to the cinema today! Me and the OH took the girls to see Marley and Me, starring Owen WIlson and Jennifer Aniston and the most bonkers dog you've ever seen.

It was a lovely film, really funny in a lot of places but a bit of a weepie too. Take the tissues if you go and see it.
