A male hairdresser is not always a gay hairdresser BC. I know two perfectly straight ones.

personally I think there is more than meets the eye about John Davoren...and a woman who is about to buy herself a new wardrobe, and shoes! needs a man who can mend them AND converse coherently while he has a mouth full of tacks lol

ButtercupFields

ButtercupFields Report 22 Jan 2010 21:25

*goes back and takes tacks out of John's mouth so he can speak coherently...jeeze! pmsl.....

but he already does BC lol and a man who can say
"the colour of the trees in Wicklow, just before they turn to red., a burnished sort of a colour....." is a man to be sought after! lol

Rambling Report 22 Jan 2010 21:31

No I meant it, people who do that CAN talk coherently lol it is a knack they develop...like seamstresses who hold the pins in their mouth and can still talk :)

I am just ploughing through all the posts on this thread to get to know you all better. I am really excited about our writing group!

Photos. Where do we send them or do we send them around to each member? Don't get excited, girls, I haven't found one yet of me that wouldn't curdle your blood but soon the time will come.... what shall I do with it????

Treading on dreams. Who raised this? It is a quote from WB Yeats, my favourite poet, so I was interested.

Had I the heavens' embroidered cloths,
Enwrought with golden and silver light,
The blue and the dim and the dark cloths
Of night and light and the half-light,
I would spread the cloths under your feet:
But I, being poor, have only my dreams;
I have spread my dreams under your feet,
Tread softly because you tread on my dreams

W.B. Yeats

Hi Helen, when you find a photo you e mail it to each of us. I assume you have not had our photos as yet either is that right? I can't remember if you joined after we sent them out.

Lovely verse that isn't it? And the last two lines are often quoted.

It' beautiful, Ann, isn't it. I 'did' Yeats for A level English decades ago and it really stuck with me.

5 or 6 years ago I was in Ireland with my family and we went to Yeats Tower in Galway - and I was really overcome with emotion! How silly! But having loved all his writing I found myself in tears at being at the place where he lived and wrote. Needless to say hubby and the kids were snorting with laughter, the soulless so-and-sos....

No. I haven't received a single photo so come on, ladies....PS where are the gents in this group????

By the way, I was naive when I thought I could comment on all your work on the same day, I am drowning in prose and poetry!! I have replied to 4 people, I think, and am on a mission to finish the rest. Don't you all sleep??? I wrote one piece then stopped....Just wait until next time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Is that enough exclamation marks?
