I'm enjoying the group,well as long as the ideas keep coming lol

OK Ladies, for this week's set piece, perhaps we can try this to get the brain cells in creative mode....(around 500 words or unlimited poetry)


Use any of the following beginnings and see where it takes you....

1.The engine burst loudly into life, jolting the ………
2.It doesn’t really matter what happens next, the damage was done the moment that ……..
3.Waves swept up the empty beach, removing all evidence of ………

Those preferring to write poetry, of course this can be adapted to fit into the rhythm(?) of your piece..as long as the basis is there...

Have the words to be at the beginning of set piece story? or can they be the beginning of lines, in say poetry?.......ie. keeping the words but changing some around to fit..

Hmmm, just did my set piece for next week, first draft. Where did that come from? I think I surprised myself there.

I've enjoyed reading what I've had so far, but Mau, can you send your piece again, in the body of the email, because I can't open it to read it. The first one that is.

me too i rattled off a poem straight away, but when i look at it again in a few days i will probably be able to edit it and make it better...i often do that ..come back to my first draft and make changes..

That's the idea Stella, and illustrates what Jill said about reading it a few days later, with fresh eyes.

Yes Rose, I typed one of the opening sentences and just kept right on going...and surprised myself with what I had actually written about!

so far I have scribbled something down on paper while watching dancing on ice. I will type it up tomorrow and amend as I go.

Much to my surprise I also have written a piece! Creative juices are simply flowing tonight...lolol.....XX

i find that if i write late in the evening i can't get to sleep when i go to bed ..my mind keeps working...lol

Same here, Stella, I have to read my 'Tibetan Book of Living and Dying' to lull me off....lol.....XX

omg, that must be boring if it sends you to sleep...lol

edit: have just been looking at said book on Amazon and ordered it...

Stella I have found that too, awful when your brain doesn't want to go to sleep isn't it? I was hardly on here last night and had a really good nights sleep.

i am glad you find that too Ann...i have tried going to bed earlier but can't sleep but if i come away from my pc and don't write for a couple of hours then i go to sleep straight away. i think my problem is that my creativity works best in the evening...lol

Stella I have found it is not just the creative writing that prevents sleep but anything I do on the boards as well. Trouble is I am nosey and if I am awake want to be seeing what is going on. But sleep is more elusive after creative writing or after involved 'debate' on here. It is better for me if I read a book for a while before attempting sleep.
