I think we get a set piece from Teresa on Sundays to do for either Thursday or Sunday Daff.l If we want to do another piece we choose our own theme.

Not sure Chardonnay will help the brain flow!!

Maggie,

Can you do anything with the volcano/ash/ruined holidays etc?

Or, I read a piece in the paper the other day about a christening gown that had been used for 6 generations. Could you do anything with that?

doesn't matter if you can't just throwing ideas around.

Hello All, hopefully I've caught up with all the emails now.

Ann, that is a very good idea actually. How about thinking about the effects on someone, of this ash cloud, or some other unforseen event leaving someone stranded.

We have people stranded at airports waiting to go home, we have families waiting for loved ones to return, we have the formula one team stuck in China waiting to get to Spain for the start of the European season, with Eddie Irvine stuck in England having to watch the Grand Prix on TV instead of being there commentating. We've had flight brought forward to bring our fallen boys home from Afghanistan, before the cloud actually got here, what of the others, or their families?

There are a million different scenarios which you could use. Play around with characters, remember, no two people react the same way, so think about the person in the situation, what sort of person they are, and how would that govern the way they deal with it?

But most of all, have fun with it.

There, that's this week's exercise. PHEW!

Thanks Ann and Teresa for this weeks set piece !

Thanks also Ann for you asking about my daughter. She had a simple eye op to remove a cyst from her eyelid, but as ever it was quite a drama !

She is fine now thanks, not much swelling or bruising as anticipated.

Hello everyone ~~~~~

I'm having difficulty writing of 'factual events' at an airport without it sounding like a News report..it's all your fault Ann lol ... however I have an idea for a piece of fiction, but staying with airport scenario...xx

No sumo wrestlers stuck at an airport BC, or bodies found behind abandoned airport check in desks Tsk.

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 20 Apr 2010 15:29

Mau as it is non fiction I am sure it doesn't matter if it sounds like a news report as long as it is a good one. Somebody has to write them.

Mauatthecoast

Mauatthecoast Report 20 Apr 2010 20:36

That's true Ann,anyway I've sort of written a rough copy and it 'sounds' okay at the moment. Sometimes ideas just flow nicely but other times you have to take any idea by the scruff of it's neck lol

Know what you mean by good weather being a distraction BC and of course the dreaded pigeons!!

Hello everyone, I have a couple of weeks' worth of critiques to send, probably tomorrow. I have enjoyed reading all the work but haven't had time to write much recently: it looks as if a few of us are a bit short of time just recently! Never mind.!
