When I got onto the site earlier, a box appeared, information regarding my subscription which will expire later this month.

I could click renew, but I have no idea how much this will be (as many of us have noticed, we're all paying different rates :-( )

I looked at My Account, subscription details, membership details, then I clicked on "credits" and was astonished to find this ~

Payment Date Total Credits Purchased Credit Expiry Date Remaining Credits
7/08/2010 1680 1/01/0001 0
8/08/2011 4050 1/01/0001 0

I have NEVER bought credits.

I would REALLY like to know how much my subs will be this year!

AND!! I would like to know how much they are in my local currency, AUSTRALIAN DOLLARS. I have been quoted a price in Pounds Sterling many times.

I haven't renewed yet. I'm not paying for anything until I know how much it is.

You should get an email two weeks before the subscription is due.

If you have auto renew set you should already have had an email, so contact support if you haven't had one.

The credits thing is puzzling. Mine says 30 for one year and 640 for the other. I believe the 30 was a freebie they gave out but I don't know where the 640 came from unless it was those I bought for the 1911 census when that first came out.

Just had a look at my credits and found this............

Payment Date Total Credits Purchased Credit Expiry Date Remaining Credits
2013/09/03 30 2013/10/03 0
2011/10/27 30 2013/04/27 0
2010/06/15 91 0001/01/01 0
2011/06/15 600 0001/01/01 0

I have never purchased credits ever. the first two 30's were freebies.

Edit.......have sent GR Support an email asking why.

LadyScozz

LadyScozz Report 9 Aug 2014 10:41

I was offered a 20% discount......... but 20% off what??

I definitely do not have the automatic renewal. I check it frequently, because it can change (by magic?) overnight. I always check it when I renew, because most of the time it adjusts itself to automatic.

That credit stuff is weird.... I must contact GR and ask them why I bought credits without my knowledge. I wouldn't buy them, because I wouldn't use them!

Something very weird is going on.

Hi LadyScozz,

Please email [email protected] - they will be able to tell you your renewal price.

Hi Shelley

I received an email from GR regarding my renewal.

I responded to that, also asked about the strange credits I'm supposed to have purchased.

Why do we have to ask how much our renewal is? It should be on the message from GR.

Genes....Isn't it about time you charged everyone the same..... Like you said you were going to do in December 2012... Rather than pull names out of a hat as to who would be charged what

i think the credit thing relates to how many lookups you do. You dont pay for credits when you have a subscription, but i think it registers lookups as if you do. For instance last year i didnt do much researching and there were not many credits but earlier this year when i was doing a tree for someone, my credits were over 10,000!( have unlimited as im platinum.

although i have auto renew, i clicked on renew to see the price for me with a 20% 6 months is £39.95. i get my monies worth because im always printing out censuses and going back looking up things. i did get a renewal email though telling me this a while before subs expired.

Hope this helped a bit

This may not be the case but just my own thoughts looking at my own credit history.

Got the same problem with credits

14/08/2010 543 21/08/2010 0

05/12/2012 3720 01/01/0001 0
04/12/2012 30 01/01/0001 0

I can understand the two lots of 30 credits but I have never purchased any let alone over 6,000.

I have never looked at my credits before - I don't use them - but I have a list like others above.

Also it says 0 Credits Available and 0 Credits used.

Under that is a box which informs me that my automatic credit top-up is on!! :-S :-S :-S

Now what is that all about?

I had the same problem recently - was offered 20% off, I contacted Genes at
[email protected] and got it sorted out pretty much right away.

This credit thing has been mentioned before.... It's a load of rubbish and nothing to with what you have looked up.....I am a standard member and apart from about 130 given to me and most of those left to lapse, I have not purchased any

goodness, this thread made me look at my account, and I have masses of these credit items listed, absolutely meaningless. I think I did buy some once for something that didn't work and never thought about it again. I suppose it might just tie up with my editing my tree from time to time but I certainly didn't buy the amounts listed
