Do you think we should have a seperate board, like a bit of a shrine board, that memorial threads could go on.

I still like to visit the thread I posted when Fred died and quite like to find it in a sort of virtual grave site.

I so Agree Sharron :-D :-D

Omg no one is saying it shouldn't be unpinned
The problem is peoples requesting it, we feel it's disrespectful!
Just because you say no offence intended doesn't mean it won't offend, people, and just because it doesn't offend a group of people doesn't meAn it doesn't offend some

Please can you all have some compassion, Hayley is still grieving and a thread like this probably hurts her more than we all imagine.
As others have said it not that we didn't no that it would be unpinned but it would be up to GR to decide when the time is right.

Sympathy to Hayley, Joy & Stray <3

Guinevere Report 25 Mar 2015 13:06

I haven't seen much lack of compassion, actually, Mummo.

People have apologised if others were upset.
Not sure what else you expect them to do.

No one intended any disrespect as has been made clear.

Tabitha Report 25 Mar 2015 13:45

For goodness sake – i have never seen so many people make such a fuss over a comment

Everyone has a right to their own opinion & no one should be shouted down or reviewed

I think there should be a separate Memoriam board -
the individual thread headings can have that person’s name on it

Then if people want to visit it they can & no-one can stop them and also add their own thoughts

This way people do not have to see the same heading day in & day out

Those that want to share their grief can do so together others can just get on with life such as it is

This did not need to be reported it was just an idea & the poor person who started it has done nothing wrong

The memoriam board should have been set up a very long time ago

Very well said, Tabitha.

If anyone deserves an apology on here, Shirley does.

There was absolutely no need for her to be subjected to such an outburst as she has been, it was most unwarranted.

Most of us realise that Shirley is dealing enough problems in her life without being vilified for a very reasonable and well thought out suggestion - a suggestion with which many of us agreed.

Her thread was neither disrespectful nor insensitive nor did it lack compassion. It was, in fact very well phrased and said what many of us were already thinking.

I too feel sorry for Shirley....it was a suggestion as this is supposed to be a chat board.
I don't normally take part in controversial threads, but this is an angry one.
We are all upset by members passing ...and have seen a few over the 10 years I have been a member.
I agree that there should be a memorial board...... I go on a site dedicated to Jazz and have got to correspond with musicians From my past...and of course we notice more and more that we are all getting older and we are losing old friends .

We have an. In Memory board... and after a death has been announced on the main board it is transferred to this ...and regularly added to with any one wants to look up...What happened to....or just add a little quote.

I don't believe anyone is being disrespectful.
I believe Shirley added this as there are now 4 stickies and we all grieve, but there is a place to put all our memories.

SylviaInCanada Report 25 Mar 2015 16:29

I feel extremely sorry for Shirley

There is no way that she deserved the kind of comments that were directed at her yesterday

A complete lack of respect for someone who merely voiced an opinion and asked for input ......................

Everyone has the right to their opinion

No-one has the right to be shouted down and insulted ................... that is denial of free speech

No-one has the right to impose their will on others ............ yet that attempt is being made on here.

and I have no patience with the idiot who RR'd the OP

I hope you all realise that GR is being driven into the ground ................... that is plain by the lack of attention paid by the staff to the Boards.

RR'd posts regularly remain as such for days on end .................. they used to be reviewed by noon of the day after being RR'd

we hardly ever see any comments by GR staff

emails to Support get the usual "it must be your browser" blah response

The response to the very reasoned OP on this thread will be just one more reason to drive newcomers away ..................... and another aid to any request by BS to dissolve GR or roll it into FMP.

AnninGlos Report 25 Mar 2015 16:33

You know I never, ever saw BC make nasty comments about anybody on these boards. whatever she thought about people she kept to herself, or to private PMs. I am sure she would be mortified by this.

eRRolSheep

eRRolSheep Report 25 Mar 2015 16:38

I totally agree AnninGlos - some might even go so far as to say that is shows a total lack of respect by some members.

StrayKitten

StrayKitten Report 25 Mar 2015 17:05

Again please dont assume you know what Bc would think, and try and use it as a means to get your point across, its not nice,

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 25 Mar 2015 17:41

I think that AnninG made a fair comment ..................... about what she, and many of us, saw on the Boards, and what we believed BC to be like

are you trying to say that BC was a different person than she portrayed to the general group of members who post on here?

surely that is insulting BC!

maggiewinchester

maggiewinchester Report 25 Mar 2015 17:42

Jumping on someone in an over-emotional rant for making a suggestion isn't nice, either - and Shirley is still with us :-(

StrayKitten

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 25 Mar 2015 17:47

Joy

we are not implying .....................

I at least am saying that the impression I got from the contacts I had with BC led me to believe she was a certain kind of person

was I wrong?

was she a completely different person off the Boards form the one she portrayed on here??

JoyBoroAngel

JoyBoroAngel Report 25 Mar 2015 17:51

she was a beautiful lovely person even nicer in real life
Who tolerated many people

but not fools she saw right through them

and she never kicked anybody when they where down :-( :-(
