I found that quite interesting and wonderful
to go back to where his ancestors lived.
If only those walls could speak what stories
they could tell.

The last of the series is in two weeks time and
it's Frances de la Tour.

I enjoyed it Emms, gave you goosebumps seeing the old farmhouse still standing.

Sorry, I found it boring & read for much of the time.

I wonder if he will restore the 'family home' ? Ideal spot for writing, especially considering the amount of rain in that area :-(

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 9 Oct 2015 00:02

We thought it could be converted into a holiday home for walkers or bird watchers :-)

maggiewinchester

maggiewinchester Report 9 Oct 2015 00:09

There's that, too!!! (apart from the rain.......)

+++DetEcTive+++

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 9 Oct 2015 00:15

Perhaps that's what put me off the programme..........the rain!

....but that's Ireland!!!
I noticed a small wind farm on the land - maybe some form of hydropower would have been more suitable :-D

'Emma'

'Emma' Report 22 Oct 2015 10:26

Last in the series tonight, Frances de la Tour.
I hope it is a good one.

I watched last night's episode for about 20 minutes, but could not make any sense of it at all, it was sooo confusing and boring.

I did watch the whole programme but it certainly was dull-some dates would have helped and the "experts" were not very inspiring :-(

'Emma'

'Emma' Report 23 Oct 2015 10:16

I also watched the whole programme and
must admit I was confused at times.
At the start of the programme I thought it
was going to be very interesting because of
the names etc but feel they did not get into it
at all and am sure Frances was more confused
than I was.

I'm usually out on Thursday evening and have watched a few on catch up,.
I have a cold and feeling a bit low,but thought I'd settle down and watch this..
What a disappointment.it was very confusing .
I'm not keen when they concentrate on just one ancestor.

maggiewinchester

maggiewinchester Report 23 Oct 2015 11:08

You would have thought, looking at 2 generations of the same family (I think), it could have been edited a lot better, and much less confusing :-S

**Ann**

**Ann** Report 23 Oct 2015 13:01

Your right Maggie the editing was very poor....I stuck with it but did not find it enjoyable :-( :-(

JoyLouise

JoyLouise Report 23 Oct 2015 15:19

I stuck with it too although I found F l T a shade too lovey for me. It was like watching her in a play.

A bit disappointing all in all.

Seaton Delaval Hall was interesting because I'm pretty sure that it was saved from dereliction after a big fund-raising appeal.
