We wouldn't have to pay for either the treatment or the day service at the hospital as it was required by the specialist. It's covered by the provincial Health Scheme, which costs us about $120 a month (ca £50) in premiums ............. not even that if our income was below a certain level.

If treatment involved a stay in hospital, we do have to pay for the bed ........ I think it is something like free or $20/night in a 4 or 5 bed ward (our largest), $60 a night in a 2 bed ward, and $80 a night in a "private" ward (that also includes your own phone and TV set). No charges for anything else.

If you ask for a bed in the larger ward and then there is not a bed, the hospital will put you into either the 2 bed or private ward .... and you will not be charged anything as that was THEIR choice.

Our friend had part of her colon removed last year, chose the 4 bed ward for free, but ended up in a private room with a magnificent view of the mountains and harbour .... for nothing. The staff had decided that she needed the quiet of the private room.

We do have to buy the prep kits for colonoscopies.

yeah right........ it wasn't last week, and it wasn't last night! Wore a path to the loo again, all night long.

Climbed on the scales this morning........ haven't been on them for two weeks, and I've lost 4kg! It's not because I've been full of **** it's because I haven't eaten much of my usual food! No yoghurt, grain bread, nuts, fruit (other than bananas)....... I'm starving!

Not sure what they're doing today....... resection of something, but I'm sure which end they're going from!

I am SO tired! And I have a terrible back ache... did they drop me off the table?

Doc showed me a photo of the suspect thingie, they put dye into it so that he could see it ( ? ), and a photo of it afterwards, all nice and pink.

I have to go back in six months for another one, and he thinks every two years after that.

In the waiting room I got another strange view of a man! He sat opposite me and crossed his legs "man style"..... one ankle over the other knee. Not a pretty sight.

I'm going back to bed!

The suspect thingie, he showed it to me last week (photo), it was a red & white blob. That's the one he put dye into (turned it grey), then removed it... the next photo was a pink blob.

I have to see my GP on Tuesday, maybe he can explain things to me a wee bit clearer (ordinary speak) than the specialist did.

Fed up going to doctors. I was supposed to see the orthopaedic surgeon last Thursday, but I cancelled the appointment (for obvious reasons), have a new appointment on 31st.

The weird thing is ........... I'm off my food! Not like me, I'm usually good with a nosebag. I don't even feel like chocolate! :-0

Glad it's all done for now. Have been popping in to look for a posting from you post-op ;-)

You've been pummelled, pulled about, purged and peered at so no wonder you're off your food. I'm sure your system will settle down after a while - look after yourself :-)

Sounds like a positive outcome. Not only do you have a call-back in 6 months then every 2 years as opposed to needing invasive treatment , you've also lost weight :-D

May be your emotions are putting you off your food - it will soon settle down.

Just a thought - I assume that the 'gloop' and its effects will have stripped all your gut flora. Antibiotics can do this too which is why they sometimes upset your stomach. Perhaps some live yoghurt or pro-biotic supplements would help to restore the balance.

Pleased to hear it is now all over and done with. It does seem good that you can go six months until your next appointment. Hopefully the doctor will be able to explain just what was done. It is hard to understand the specialists talk sometimes they seem to use the big names for things. Have a good rest and hope you are soon feeling better and hungry, take care

Give me a week or so to get back to my usual eating habits. If I'm still feeling weird after that I'll see my GP again..... but I'm seeing him on Tuesday (as advised by the specialist).

Having two lots of anasthetic in a week must do something weird to the system; I'm sure the body has its own way of dealing with being "probed" too.
