Just turned on the news and heard this, I cant believe it to be honest.

How very sad. So she has gone to join her beloved Bobby.

Trust she and Dusty will be belting out songs Up Above.

Such a shock I am one of millions that grew up with her music in the 60s. Very sad my thoughts are with her three sons Robert Ben and Jack. RIP Cilla <3 <3

Goodness! Totally unexpected.

Although not a fan of hers, it's sad that she has died at such a relatively young age.

The first time I heard Cilla - as an unknown on 'Saturday Club', the light programme? I was impressed.

So sad to read this

RIP Cilla xxx

OH and I were still in Liverpool when she and the Beatles were starting their careers ............ we were not in any way linked in those days, but we both went to the Cavern at different times, and also both went to the Zodiac coffee lounge, which I read was another place where she worked in the early 1960s.

Hey magpie .... where did you read that ! ..........

I guess from something you read on the net today .....

My brother was a driver for a TV company and many times had Cilla in the back of the car........ no way did she talk to him as a minion... believe you me, my brother as a true born cockney would have slaughtered her should she have tried that on with him !

Island

Island Report 2 Aug 2015 19:24

So you 'don't like to burst this sentimental bubble' magpie?

So why post such a nasty comment? True or not there's a time and place.

Why not go to digital spy and join the other mean minded posters - just thought I'd mention that.

Joeva

Joeva Report 2 Aug 2015 19:58

Just like to say, that I did not RR the comment from magpie.....

I have never RRd a comment on GR ......... I much prefer to leave their postings for others to read and make up their own minds.

So, to whoever RRd you took offence more than I did ........ because it seem to me the comment made was posted from a source other then someone like me that has heard from 'the horses mouth' the experience of transporting Our Cilla .

BrendafromWales Report 2 Aug 2015 20:01

Never expected that...saw her on a chat show not long ago talking about the TV programme"Cilla"...she seemed fit and healthy and enjoying life.
R.I.P. Cilla....so sad .....
I remember her as the cloakroom girl at the Cavern when we played there when it was a jazz club, before the Beatles were famous .

'I haven't written anything that hasn't been written by someone else. Check it out for yourselves!'

Oh well magpie, that just confirms what I have said previously, not your personal experience.. just something you have read on the internet.

We all know that people in the public eye or not perfect, just as we as private individuals are not.....

In this case an Icon in the history of British entertainment has suddenly passed away and many of us I shocked by the news, and as such are expressing our feelings.

So, maybe you might re-consider that your posting was not appropriate at this time.

Magpie why post such a post on this type of thread.... :-(

I missed the post so I could not read it

Joeva

Joeva Report 2 Aug 2015 20:59

I saw the post from magpie that someone RRd ..........

Apparently she was appalled that I had used the word 'icon' regarding Cilla's history in Britain's entertainment........

Mersey

Mersey Report 2 Aug 2015 21:03

Well I find it a bit sad and unnecessary to have posted on a thread such as this one :-(
