I'm not repeating it. I can assure you that there was no bad or offensive language and as free speech is a corner stone of our constitution, I can't quite understand that my lack of enthusiasm for this lady is not allowed to be aired?! As I said previously, I'm sorry than anyone has died, but I cannot join in this portrayal of this lady as an icon(!!!), let's face it a lot of celebrities are not all they seem, as I think we are all aware. They live in a cut throat industry and most have to be astute and tough cookies to survive. If you don't believe me, check it out on line!

Pity the comments by magpie have been RRd .......... then others just coming on this thread could see how demeaning they were to Cilla....

What is published the internet, as with the press has to be taken with a pinch of salt ..... and to take it as gospel ... oh my word !

Sorry, if you think my reply to magpies's comments spoiled your thread Joy, that truly was not my intention.

TV host Paul O’Grady has been left heartbroken at the loss, and said his fellow Merseyside star Cilla, who died at her Costa del Sol home, was “like a sister” and he thought "she'd outlive us all".

Paul, 60, told the Liverpool Echo : “Please tell me this isn’t true? We’ve been friends for nearly 20 years. She’s like my sister.

“Apart from her hearing she was alright. We had a week together in Barbados at the beginning of the year and I saw her on my birthday.

“I thought she was well. I can’t believe it to tell you the truth.”

I didn't see the posts so can't comment but I was unimpressed with Hayley's initial comment posted by Joy on her behalf. Even if afterwards more was added saying Joking apart..... why write such comments?

I feel sad for Cilla's sons and families, and her friends, who will miss her so much, but we have to be happy for Cilla in a way, she had apparently said that she didn't want to die a lingering death and she certainly hasn't done that. She will now be reunited with her husband and baby daughter, I hope. It's a shame she couldn't have lived longer but hopefully she didn't suffer?

Rest in Peace, Cilla, you will be remembered for the pleasure and entertainment you gave so many.

Like her or not, she was an icon.

A woman in a man's world didn't get to where Cilla got without a touch of the divas. Her husband managed her career brilliantly and gave up a potential pop career of his own to manage her. Cilla herself said there was only room for one ego in that marriage. And they were a brilliant team.

She lost her baby daughter at our local maternity hospital and throughout her life supported the special care baby unit there.

She worked hard to get to where she got and deserves all the accolades that come her way.

Liz its called humour its practiced in the Boro often even at sad times

It now seems that she had a fall shortly before she died, there were bruises on her elbow and arm so maybe the fall was the cause of her death, a stroke or something ?
