He is comfortable . Sleeping most of the time but drinking quite well when he has waking moments . Has had some jelly too and a little bit of ice cream this morning .

Our daughter is coming up this afternoon to see him so hope he wakes up a little whilst she is here .

Really from how ill he was from sun-Tuesday he is so much better from then . He was unresponsive most of the time till Tuesday which is why the doctor gave her diagnosis

He has developed thrush again in his mouth .the district nurse was in yesterday and she rang for a prescription for him . Grandaughter is collecting it now

Dear Shirley,

This must be so hard for you, we all know how much you have cared for your beloved husband before this devastating prognosis from your GP.

May you and yours have the strength to get you through this difficult time....... <3 to you all.

Thank you all

I am on even keel again at the moment cos Hubby has more fight in him than I would have thought

Am so WOWWW how he has been so stubborn to fight back from his awful diagnosis to being lucid and having banter with his care ladies and to be drinking and taking small sips of liquid nutrician.

This morning he had all smiles with one of his ladies!! and they bantered back and forth and it was so relieving to see. He made us laugh with some of his silly comments

This guy has had lots of drinks today and jelly and ice cream and custard and a strawberry actimal .and two drinks of milk . he has had two doses too of antibiotics for his oral thrush

Its small steps but he is taking them

this guy aint giving up easily I,m glad to say. I really admire his fighting spirit to stay with us

Your husband is responding to being surrounded with lots of Tender Loving Care.
Shirley, I am so pleased that you pushed to have your husband at home and have the care and support that you both need in the comfort of your own home. You rest too xxx

Well he is still hanging in there

Not drinking much or eating

This morning one of his care ladies went through what he may like and he settled for some tomato soup . I watered it down and he was taking it ok BUUTT then his throat said \\\\noooooo and he brought it all again . Blimey what came up seemed more than what when down

He has been sleeping most of the day so getting him to have some sustenance and fluid isnt easy .Every time I load him up with waterproof pads around his neck and chest JUST in case . I leave em too in place for about 10mins just in case
I know he hates em but if he pukes and I cant change him he will be uncomfortable till his ladies next come in

We have managed his antibiotics for his thrush but each time its PHEW he has taken it and not thrown it back up

Such a pity yesterday was so difficult, Shirley and your poor hubby didn't get much nourishment inside him. Can he manage runny porridge, the fine Readybrek sort or would he choke on it? That's what my Dad liked when he was near the end with lung cancer. He had a problem with swallowing but in respite for a few days after his throat kept closing up, the treatment they gave, meant he could eat properly again for a few months so enjoyed the 44th Wedding Anniversary cake I made.

Have you got a cheap plastic tablecloth you can use to cover the area instead of several pads? An easy way to save the washing if he vomits and cabn be bright and chererful.

Thinking of you

He is liking actimal shakes but doesn't like the ensure ones the doc prescribed even though he had them in hospital . He seems just to be able to tolerate small amounts of jelly and some ice cream and some times a flavoured youghurt but anything more solid is out . I tried him with some muller rice which he normally loves but he couldn't keep it down . He has so little food each day it's worrying but I can't get him to have more . He gets a bit cross with me at times as I try to persuade him .

His altzeimer has worsened too as he is saying odd things at times but we just go with it . Maybe that's the result of so little food .

He is drinking , but not as much as I would like him too as he sleeps a lot

They are changing his catheter today .its been in since he was admitted to hospital almost 9 weeks ago so needs changing . I won't stay in the room for that as I know it hurt him when it went it the first time .

You're doing a grand job Shirley.

Have you thought of gently putting a towel gently round his neck and chest area to catch any unexpected vomit? It would be soft against his skin and may save some unnecessary washing.

I wonder if he could take some apple puree - maybe the ones which are made for babies?

Love to you both. xx

I am using the waterproof soft thin seat sheets that you get for incontinence , these are very pliable and wrap around under his chin and behind his neck with lots on his chest area

Just said to him we need to do your antibiotics for your mouth and he said don't want it , before I even got the dropper near his mouth the thought made him heave and he was then sick and bought up the actimal he had about an hour ago Good job I had put one of the waterproof sheets around him

The district nurse is in today and he has a crisis pack of meds here which does have anti sickness injections in it and she can give it to him hopefully

Shirley, milk or milky products and antibiotics dont mix well and do cause nausea.they do say dont take with milk,,,,,,and the antibios do cause thrush,,,,,perhaps a mouth care product like Oraldene would help, used on a swab(nurse can supply these) it can be waterted down slighlty and swabbed round the mouth.....
would he drink flavoured natural water no acids like squash drinks and kinder to an empty tum.

wishing to both a better day,

Would you consider asking for intravenous fluids via a drip, or do you think hubby wouldn't have wanted it?
